Layoffs hit Yahoo! Indonesia, Development Team Available for Work

It’s awkward that yesterday we posted a great news about Koprol, only to find out a few hours later that Yahoo! slashed the whole development team leaving the new Koprol high and dry. It’s inevitable for Yahoo! to make serious measurements in the way they do business, and as a part of that process Yahoo! has to let go 2000 people worldwide.

Product team is said to be the most affected by these layoffs, and since Yahoo! is no longer focusing on product, letting go their engineers just makes perfect sense. And Yahoo! Indonesia is no exception, where almost all members of the product team were given the pink slips. These people are web developers, designers, mobile programmers etc, and I’ll say this: Yahoo! Indonesia had the best engineers for Internet products. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean anything for the product team.

But on the bright side, we now have three dozen of Indonesia’s best engineers and IT guys available for gigs, freelance and of course, full-time work. Now, before people start blowing up my phone asking about these guys, Satya Witoelar (Koprol founder) decided to make the list available for your further consideration (if you’re recruiting, that is).

These are software engineers, mobile developers, UI designers, and program managers who worked for Yahoo! Indonesia and Koprol.

We wish all the best to all our friends at Yahoo! Indonesia, and knowing their skills, they won’t be unemployed long. In fact, to make sure you don’t get rusty, why not join our hackathon event together with NASA in two weeks.
