Ovum: A Non-Voice Operator Telecommunication’s Revenue Progress in Asia-Pacific Region, including Indonesia

A trend to use data seems to be happening not only in Indonesia, but also in the Asia Pacific region as a whole. The result of a research conducted by Ovum and picked up by TelecomLead mentioned that in 2012 the growth of non-voice revenue which is dominated by data usage is predicted to increase by 9.3%.

In 2011 alone, total revenue for non-voice service reached USD 107 billion. The biggest contributor to non-voice revenue is Japan, followed by China. Revenues from these two countries alone contributed for more than 70% of total non-voice revenue in this region.

Indonesia didn’t want to miss out. Based on research conducted by Ovum, in 2011 total non-voice revenue in Indonesia was approximately USD 3.8 billion and it’s predicted to increase by 9.4% in 2012 to USD 4.1 billion. In the list, Indonesia occupies fifth position after Japan, China, Australia, and South Korea. This means that Indonesia has the highest position among Southeast Asian countries.
