Anda Kini Bisa Terima Notifikasi Setiap Kali Selebriti Favorit Menyiarkan Video Live di Facebook

Sekitar tiga bulan yang lalu, Facebook ikut meramaikan kompetisi live streaming dengan layanannya sendiri. Meski demikian, konsep yang ditawarkan Facebook sedikit berbeda, dimana yang bisa menyiarkan video hanyalah para selebriti atau figur publik yang mempunyai akun Facebook terverifikasi.

Facebook sendiri menganggap Live sebagai sebuah studio televisi yang bisa disimpan di dalam saku. Meski yang banyak mengundang penonton adalah selebriti Hollywood, nyatanya lebih dari 60 persen live broadcaster berasal dari negara-negara di luar AS. Tiga yang paling besar di antaranya adalah Brasil, Taiwan dan Itali.

Buat para penonton, Live bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai sarana untuk menyimak keseharian di balik layar dari figur-figur idolanya, alias tanpa arahan naskah dan sutradara. Untuk itu, Facebook baru saja meluncurkan fitur subscription untuk memudahkan akses para penonton.

Sekarang, saat Anda melihat sebuah video live yang disiarkan oleh seorang sosok ternama, akan muncul tombol “Subscribe” di ujung kanan atas. Klik tombol tersebut, maka selanjutnya Anda akan menerima notifikasi setiap kali ada video live baru dari sang selebriti.

Lalu mengapa Facebook tidak membuat fitur subscription ini otomatis aktif ketika kita mem-follow seorang figur ternama? Well, kemungkinan Facebook memang ingin memberikan kebebasan buat para penggunanya. Dengan cara manual seperti ini, pengguna yang keberatan dikirimi notifikasi setiap kali ada video live baru tetap dapat menikmati ketentramannya.

Buat yang penasaran kapan Facebook akan membuka akses layanan live streaming-nya ke seluruh pengguna tanpa terkecuali, sayangnya hingga detik ini belum ada informasi sama sekali yang diberikan oleh Facebook. Buat pengguna umum, layanan Facebook Live sejauh ini baru sebatas untuk konsumsi saja.

Raksasa Internet Yahoo dan raksasa industri musik Vivendi Universal akan memperkenalkan kanal video musik baru di Indonesia yang bernama Duet. Melalui Duet, konsumen Indonesia bisa mengakses 6000 video musik dari artis mancanegara dan bakal diintegrasikan dengan kanal hiburan yang dimiliki Yahoo. Duet bersifat berlangganan dan bakal tersedia di negara-negara Asia Tenggara, termasuk Indonesia, sebelum akhir tahun 2013 ini.

Scoop for iOS Comes with New Look and Subscription Feature

Along with the introduction of Scoop’s new look for iOS, the newsstand service provides subsription feature for its users. As described in its official website, version 3.0 of this newsstand app which comes with a new look for iOS version – iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. It also provides some new features.

Those features are shopping list, newspaper tab, manage collection, magazine subscription with 3, 6, or 12 month subscription option and cheaper price than buying it one issue at a time, although not all magazines have subscription facility. Another feature is Restore Purchase which is a facility for user to returned purchased magazine using Scoop ID. With Scoop ID, a user who has made ​​a purchase could integrate all the content that has been purchased, for example, if you buy content from Scoop for iOS, you can download it for free on Android version, and vice versa.

The new subscription feature puts this app on par with the Android version which already has the same facility. In the previous article, Willson Cuaca – CEO of Apps Foundry, the developers behind Scoop, says that the proportion of the income is dominated by iOS. We’ll find out in a few months whether the addition of the subscription feature will improve the revenue generated from his app.

Local Digital Magazine Platform Wayang Force Now Adds Subscription Feature

It’s long overdue and finally available from our local digital magazine app. A subscription feature has been introduced by PhaseDev’s Wayang Force. It allows subscribers to pay one time only, whether it’s for a month, 3 months, 6 months, or even a year. The price is definitely cheaper than single issue. It rolls out in iOS version and the other platforms will follow.

There are eight magazines (mostly come from Megindo which has affiliation with Wayang Force) and one newspaper that can be subscribed. To be able to subscribe, one user needs to login/register first. It may be the first local service to provide this feature.

The idea of subscription is well known to offline publishing. By offering cheaper price, publisher is hoping to get loyal customers for longer term. In real world, the subscription implementation in digital platform is not that easy. Especially in Indonesia, the online market is niche and purely experimental. But if some in this niche market eager to pay hefty price for Harvard Business Review or TIME annual online subscription, the same person may be willing to subscribe for local contents. Just give a shot and look at the result.

UPDATED : Koprol Rumored To Partner With Telkomsel

The rumor about Koprol seems never-ending, this time we’ve heard from a source that Koprol is partnering with the biggest telco in Indonesia with over 50 million subscriber, Telkomsel. Our source tell us that Telkomsel and Koprol is building a partnership where Telkomsel subscriber can use Koprol application with a flat subscription fee + free GPRS access.

Telkomsel would likely to charge a small-flat fee for user to use Koprol, and Koprol will most likely featured on the recently launched Telkomsel Appzone where user can download the app for free. Another interesting strategy if true, for Koprol targeting mid-low potential user where they can use Koprol easily.
