Toresto Hits the Web, Emulates Its Mobile Apps

Toresto, which is known as an application made by GITS Indonesia to search for dining spots and restaurants, now also comes in the form of a website. Located at www.toresto.com, Toresto website presents the same features with its existing mobile apps.

“We make this website as closely as possible with its mobile version, even the location detector is also available, “ said Halida Astatin, Senior Web Developer at GITS Indonesia in a news release received by DailySocial. Toresto mobile version is available for users of Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Nokia S40. This website is intended for those who don’t use those any of the 4 types of phone.

This website will track the location of a Torian (nickname for Toresto users) then give out the location of nearby restaurant around the Torian. If a Torian’s location cannot be detected, a list of restaurants will be displayed using the default location which is Bandung. Besides Bandung, Toresto’s website currently has the option to use other 4 locations, namely Jakarta, Bogor, Yogyakarta and Surabaya.

Toresto Hadirkan Layanannya dalam Bentuk Website

Toresto, yang selama ini dikenal sebagai aplikasi untuk mencari tempat makan dan restoran buatan GITS Indonesia, kini juga hadir dalam bentuk website. Beralamat di www.toresto.com, website Toresto menghadirkan fitur-fitur yang sama dengan aplikasi Toresto yang ada pada perangkat mobile.

“Website ini kita bikin semirip mungkin dengan versi mobile-nya, bahkan pendeteksi lokasi pun tersedia” tegas Halida Astatin, Senior Web Developer di GITS Indonesia dalam rilis berita yang diterima oleh DailySocial. Versi mobile Toresto tersedia untuk pengguna Android, iOS, Windows Phone dan Nokia S40. Website ini ditujukan untuk pecinta kuliner yang bukan pengguna 4 jenis telepon tersebut. Toresto Updates its iPhone app, Adding User Generated Content Feature

I thought Toresto was no longer maintained when I tried it in February. This website, which related to information on restaurants from iOS and Android platforms and developed by Gits Indonesia, was running for about a year. Errors were popping up everywhere.

To be honest, then it seemed like Toresto would follow in the footsteps of Tasterous – a similar application that even the website is no longer existed. Apparently, just the other when I idly peeked into this application, in between my browsing around the App Store, there is a new update by early April. Fortunately, there are those of care for Toresto and it now offers a new feature related to user generated content (UGC).

Now, user can add their own restaurant venue and write reviews about various dining places they visited. This is reasonable because curated content with a list of restaurants in a city will be a tough homework, especially for startup that does not have many employees.

Update Aplikasi iPhone Toresto, Tambahkan Fitur User Generated Content

Saya pikir Toresto sudah tidak lagi diurus ketika mencobanya di bulan Februari lalu. Situs yang berkaitan dengan informasi restoran untuk platform iOS dan Android dan dikembangkan oleh Gits Indonesia ini usianya baru sekitar satu tahun. Error bermunculan di mana-mana.

Sejujurnya, saat itu nampaknya Toresto bakal mengikuti jejak Tasterous — aplikasi serupa yang bahkan sudah tidak ada lagi situsnya. Ternyata saat iseng mengintip aplikasi ini kemarin, di sela keisengan saya menjelajahi App Store, terdapat update baru per awal April ini. Toresto, untungnya, masih ada yang merawat dan menawarkan fitur baru yang berkaitan dengan user generated content (UGC).

Pengguna bisa saat ini bisa menambah sendiri venue restoran dan menuliskan review tentang berbagai tempat makan yang baru saja dikunjungi. Ini merupakan hal yang wajar karena curated content yang berisi daftar restoran di sebuah kota bakal menjadi pekerjaan rumah yang berat, apalagi untuk startup yang rata-rata tidak memiliki banyak pegawai.

Toresto for Windows Phone Comes With Augmented Reality

Toresto is a mobile application made by Gits Indonesia that provides restaurant and food information. Although it was pretty popular back in 2011, it appears that Toresto application starts to show some flaws. I tried using Toresto on iOS and found a lot of data errors. Nevertheless, this does not dampen its move to expand into the Windows Phone platform by cooperating with Radya Labs.

Its updated version of Windows Phone has a special feature, namely the availability of Augmented Reality in it. With this feature, we can identify nearest restaurant using the camera of the phone, as if the restaurant was right in front of us. Toresto will also provide information on what route you can take to get to the restaurant after choosing a restaurant that you’re interested in. It seems Toresto is available for Windows Phone Marketplace Indonesia only as I can’t find it on USA region.

Toresto itself was originally named Raos Pisan and took Bandung and its neighboring areas as its scoop, until it changed its name to be accepted widely. In addition to Windows Phone and iOS, Toresto is also available for Android and Nokia.

Toresto untuk Windows Phone Hadir dengan Augmented Reality

Toresto adalah aplikasi mobile buatan Gits Indonesia yang memberikan informasi restoran dan makanan. Meskipun sempat cukup berkibar di tahun 2011 lalu, nampaknya aplikasi Toresto sudah mulai memiliki flaws. Saya mencoba menggunakan Toresto di iOS dan banyak sekali data error yang ditemukan. Meskipun demikian, hal ini tidak menyurutkan langkah mereka untuk berekspansi ke platform Windows Phone dengan menggandeng Radya Labs.

Versi update Windows Phone-nya memiliki fitur khusus, yaitu ketersediaan Augmented Reality di dalamnya. Dengan fitur ini, kita bisa mengidentifikasi restoran terdekat menggunakan kamera yang ada di ponsel, seakan-akan berada tepat di hadapan kita. Toresto juga akan memberikan informasi bagaimana rute menuju ke sana setelah kita memilih satu restoran yang diinginkan. Nampakny Toresto hanya tersedia untuk Windows Phone Marketplace Indonesia karena saya tidak menemukannya untuk region USA.
