PayPal and Braintree Plan to Invade APAC with Startup Blueprint

Two eBay’s global subsidiaries, Paypal and Braintree, announced their Startup Blueprint initiation for Asia Pacific region. The initiation allows startups that work under a number of investors, to reduce their expenses. As for its presence in Southeast Asia region, Startup Blueprint appointed East Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, Joyful Frog Digital Incubator (JFDI), and 1337 Accelerator to back it up.

BREAKING: Metra – Telkom Sepakat Bentuk Joint Venture dengan eBay untuk Menyelamatkan Plasa

Kami baru saja menerima berita bahwa salah satu anak perusahaan Telkom, Metra telah menandatangani kesepakatan kemitraan dengan eBay pagi hari ini di Jakarta. Kedua perusahaan setuju untuk mendirikan perusahaan baru (Joint Venture) yang akan menangani operasional Plasa, sementara Metranet, perusahaan yang saat ini menjalankan Plasa akan mengalihkan fokus mereka untuk menjalankan portal berita PlasaMSN.

Kami juga mendengar bahwa keduanya, Metra dan eBay (yang diwakili oleh perusahaan mereka di Korea) setuju untuk mendirikan perusahaan baru lain dengan kepemilikan saham terbesar dimiliki oleh Metra (60%) dan eBay (40%).

BREAKING : Telkom’s Metra signs Joint Venture deal with eBay to save Plasa

We just received news that one of Telkom’s subsidiary company Metra is signing a partnership agreement with eBay early today in Jakarta. Both company agreed to establish another company (Joint venture) that will handle Plasa’s operations while Metranet, the current company running Plasa will shift its focus on running news portal PlasaMSN.

We also heard that both Metra and eBay (represented by the Korean office) agreed to establish another company with majority shares owned by Metra (60%) and eBay with 40%.

Plasa Berencana Untuk Menjual Bisnis E-commerce Mereka ke eBay

Tampaknya eBay akan secara langsung masuk ke dunia e-commerce Indonesia dengan mangakuisisi bisnis e-commerce Plasa.com, menurut informasi yang kami dapatkan dari berbagai sumber, baik dari dalam maupun luar perusahaan.

E-commerce menjadi arah baru bagi Plasa di bawah mantan CEO Shinta Dhanurwardoyo, tetapi sekarang Shinta telah keluar dari Plasa dan online marketplace yang dimiliki Plasa secara praktis berjalan sendiri tanpa arahan, perusahaan ini disebut-sebut sedang berusaha memotong kerugian dengan menjualnya ke eBay. Kesepakatan ini belum final dan masih ada kemungkinan untuk tidak terjadi. Saat ini kedua perusahaan masih memperdebatkan detail dari kesepatakan ini.

Plasa.com mengalami masa sulit setelah ditinggal CEO sebelumnya, Shinta Dhanurwadoyo dan Chief Innovation Officer mereka Andi S. Boediman. Plasa merekrut Iriana Muadz dari Heinz ABC pada bulan Maret 2011 sebelum akhirnya juga meninggalkan perusahaan bulan kemarin. Sementara ini, Aris Siswoko dari manajemen Telkom dikatakan mengelola perusahaan tersebut.

Plasa Looking to Sell Its Ecommerce Biz to eBay

It seems that eBay may jump directly into Indonesia’s ecommerce scene by acquiring Plasa.com‘s ecommerce business according to sources inside and outside of the companies.

Ecommerce may have been Plasa’s new direction under former CEO Shinta Dhanuwardoyo, but now that she’s gone and Plasa’s online marketplace is practically on autopilot, the company is said to be looking to cut its losses by selling it to eBay. This deal however is still not finalized and there’s a chance that it may not even happen. At the moment, both companies are still wrangling about the details of the deal.

Plasa.com has been having a rough time since the departure of former CEO Shinta Dhanuwardoyo and Chief Innovation Officer Andi S. Boediman. The company hired Iriana Muadz from Heinz ABC in March 2011 before she too left the company last month. In the meantime, Aris Siswoko from within Telkom’s management ranks is said to be running the company.
