Traveloka Introduces R&D Center in Bangalore, India

Traveloka (1/28) has just launched its new office in Bangalore, India. Legally named Traveloka India Pvt. Ltd., the office will be focused on Research and Development (R&D) activities. It was attended by Ferry Unardi, Traveloka’s Co-Founder and CEO.

The India’s office has marked Traveloka’s 6th expansion after Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. It’s the second R&D center after the one in Singapore. It marks the first international expansion outside Southeast Asia.

The launching was attended by Prashant Verma as Traveloka Bangalore VP Engineering. He stated in his speech that the team will work to prepare platforms and products which capable to provide experience and engagement for Traveloka users.

“Traveloka office in Bangalore plays an important role to keep making and developing technology innovation capacity. Equipped with facility and infrastructure of the latest and leading technology, it’s expected to support engineer team to collaborate better with local or international,” he added.

The R&D center is located in Embassy Tech Village, known as the heart of “Silicon Valley” in India. While India is currently known as one of the fastest growing tech countries in the world. It encourages Traveloka to build a Research & Development Center in Bangalore.

Traveloka Bangalore has been officially operating since early 2019 and has built a team of more than 60 engineers. Up until now, Traveloka has hired more than 500 engineers from all around the world.

In addition, another Indonesian startup having R&D center in Bangalore is Gojek. In general, unicorns are now focusing on innovation this year. Bukalapak is included, they’re just launching an R&D center in Bandung – product development and innovation will one of this year’s main focus.

Traveloka Resmikan Kantor R&D di Bangalore, India

Traveloka kemarin (28/1) baru saja meresmikan kantor terbarunya di Bangalore, India. Memiliki nama legal Traveloka India Pvt. Ltd., kantor tersebut akan difokuskan untuk kegiatan Research and Development (R&D). Peresmiannya dihadiri langsung oleh Co-Founder & CEO Traveloka Ferry Unardi.

Kehadirannya di India turut menandai ekspansi ke-6 Traveloka setelah Thailand, Malaysia, Singapura, Vietnam, dan Filipina. Juga merupakan kantor teknologi dan pusat R&D yang kedua setelah Singapura. Ini menandai sebagai ekspansi internasional yang pertama di luar Asia Tenggara.

Dalam acara peresmian turut hadir Prashant Verma selaku Vice President Engineering Traveloka Bangalore. Dalam sambutannya Prashant menyampaikan bahwa tim yang ia pimpin akan bekerja untuk menyiapkan platform dan produk yang dapat terus memberikan pengalaman dan engagement bagi pengguna Traveloka.

“Kantor Traveloka di Bangalore memainkan peranan yang sangat penting untuk terus menciptakan dan mengembangkan kapasitas inovasi teknologi.  Dilengkapi dengan fasilitas dan infrastruktur dengan teknologi terkemuka dan terdepan, diharapkan dapat mendukung tim engineer untuk berkolaborasi baik dengan sesama di India maupun internasional,” tambah Prashant.

Pusat R&D Traveloka persisnya berada di Embassy Tech Village, dikenal sebagai jantung pusat “Silicon Valley” di India. Sementara India sendiri saat ini diketahui sebagai salah satu negara dengan pertumbuhan teknologi tercepat di dunia. Hal ini yang mendorong Traveloka untuk membangun Research & Development Center di Bangalore.

Traveloka Bangalore telah resmi beroperasi sejak awal tahun dan telah membangun tim dengan lebih dari 60 engineer. Hingga saat ini, Traveloka telah mempekerjakan lebih dari 500 engineer dari seluruh dunia.

Tidak hanya Traveloka, startup Indonesia lain yang juga miliki kantor R&D di Bangalore adalah Gojek. Namun secara umum, para unicorn memang tengah memfokuskan pada inovasi di tahun ini. Termasuk Bukalapak, mereka baru saja meresmikan kantor R&D di Bandung –inovasi dan pengembangan produk juga akan jadi salah satu fokus utama di tahun ini.
