[EVENT] Adobe Camp Indonesia 2012

After the success of the first Adobe Camp Indonesia last year, Adobe User Group Indonesia (AUGI) is reorganizing similar event this year. Bringing “Creativity is Awesome!” as its main topic, AUGI will talk about how Adobe tools can help developers and designers in developing their creativity. Last year, Adobe Camp Indonesia will focus on Adobe Flash.

Other than Tomas Krcha as Adobe Platform Evangelist who also presented at last year’s Adobe Camp Indonesia, a number of local speakers will also attend including Bisri Mustova (founder of Parampaa.com), Arief Widhiyasa (CEO of Agate Studio) and Ahmad Fathi Hadi (Adobe Community Champion and Founder & CEO of Tandif.com). Nokia is Back With Lumia Windows Phone Developer Day

After the success of Nokia Lumia Developer Day in Bandung in early February, Nokia is organizing another developer day. This time, cooperating with Microsoft and Microsoft Innovation Center, University of Indonesia (MIC UI), Nokia will be holding Lumia Windows Phone Developer Day at the hall of Faculty of Computer Science of University of Indonesia on April 28-29, 2012.

Unlike the event in Bandung which was more like a battlefield for developers to compete to prove themselves as the best in developing applications for Windows Phone, it seems that this event is more of a training ground. Participants will be guided to develop applications for Windows Phone operating system. The workshop will be led by Puja Pramudya – Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Device Application Development.

Event: Mobile Game Developer War 3 – Jogja Game Expo 2012

Since 19 March 2012, Himakom UGM, in cooperation with Nokia Developer, opens registration for Mobile Game War 3 competition intended for local game developers. This event is part of the Jogja Information Technology Session 2012 (JOINTS 2012) which takes the theme “Challenge the Nation” and has several events inside, namely Jogja Game Expo 2012 (JGE 2012) and Mobile Game Developer War 3 which will be held on 20 May 2012 at Malioboro Mall.

Registration for Mobile Game Developer War 3 will close on 5 May. The final round along with the winner announcement will be held on May 20, 2012 at Malioboro Mall. For game developers who are interested in game development and feel challenged to develop games on Nokia S40 platform, make sure you’ve registered for the competition and the procedure of the competition can be found in this link. Registration is free of charge.

Total prize for this competition is Rp 60 million. The winner will get Rp 30 million, runner up will get Rp 20 million and second runner up will get Rp10.000.000. The game with the best local content will win a mobile phone from Nokia. Developers are free to build any kind of game.

Event Review: MindTalk AppsDay 2012 Yogyakarta Chapter

About a week ago, MindTalk – a local social networking tool (more properly called social channel) held a MindTalk AppsDay 2012, a hackathon, in Yogyakarta, in which participants were required to build an application using MindTalk platform and API.

Mindtalk AppsDay 2012 Yogyakarta was held between April 5-6, 2012 and was hosted by the University Club at Gadjah Mada University. There where around 30 developers registered for this hackathon and produced around 12 applications as well as games using MindTalk’s application and API, including apps for Blibli.com.

After holding Mindtalk AppsDay Yogyakarta hackathon a couple of days ago, finally the winners were announced on Friday, April 13, 2012 through the official account + channel #MindTalkAppsDay2012 at Mindtalk. As mentioned previously, there were 3 different categories in Mindtalk AppsDay 2012, namely general categoris (Mindtalk), Blibli apps category and game category.

[Event] Festival Doyan Makan Vegas Hotdog

Doyan Makan, together with Vegas Hotdog, will hold Festival Doyan Makan Vegas Hotdog – Fond of Eating Vegas Hotdog Festival. This event, consists of eating contest, food festival and music entertainment, will be held at Tribeca Central Park, West Jakarta. The festival will take place on April 28, 2012 starting from 10 am to 10 pm.

Festival Doyan Makan Vegas Hotdog will begin with Doyan Makan’s book launch as well as website launch at www.doyanmakan.com. Festivities will continue with a number of contests including Super Vegas Hotdog Eat All You Can Competition, Super Vegas Hotdog Fastest Eating Competition, Expression Photo Competition and Abang Adek Extremely Spicy Noodle Eating Contest. The prizes are BlackBerry and Nokia X2 phones, given to the winner of each contest.

[Event] Jakarta Startups Club: Open Discussion on Indonesian Startups

Inspired by the thrill of Jakarta Lawyers Club (JLC) shown on TV every Tuesday night, Jakarta Founder Institute (JKTFI) is launching a similar program to discuss startups. The program, named Jakarta Startups Club, will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Merah Putih Incubator at Jl. Aipda K.S. Tubun 2C/8, Jakarta.

Jakarta Startups Club will run for 3 hours, beginning at 2 PM. Various kinds of things will be covered in this discussion, starting from the glamor of the startup world, the ups and downs of founders, experience in gaining investment and participating in an incubator, and of course, issues and gossips across the industry.

ITS Industrial Incubator Center is looking for startups from East Java

Industrial Incubator Center Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), supported by the East Java Department of Cooperatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, looking for 30 young innovative entrepreneurs to be given business scholarship. This offer is valid not only for ITS alumni either S1 or D3 but also to alumni of other universities in East Java.

If you have a business in the creative industry, located in East Java and have been running for at least 1-2 years, you have until April 14, 2012 to sign up and participate in this program. Then, the ITS Industrial Incubator Center will do a selection and interview on April 17, 2012 at Surabaya Plaza Hotel.

Klik-Eat Wins Judges’ Choice Award in Satellite Indonesia – Echelon 2012

As a part of Echelon 2012 program to select the best 50 startups in Asia, the Jakarta satellite event had held on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Located in the Multimedia Tower, Telkom Kebon Sirih, Jakarta, the event featured pitching from 16 startups. From the sixteen startups, Klik-Eat receives Judges’ Choice Award.

Unlike last year that brought a People’s Choice Award, this year Satellite chose to give Judges’ Choice Award. This is done to provide a more in-depth suggestion to the startup participants. And finally, Klik-Eat, a startup that gives online food delivery service, was chosen because it was considered by the judges as a startup that best demonstrate its business potential and opportunities to get funding.

[EVENT] Industry Creative Festival 2012

Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry organizes Creative Product Show Competition 2012, named Industry Creative Festival (Increfest). The event takes the theme “Make Indonesian Creative Product’s Content the Host in Our Country” launched at Ambarukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta, March 29, 2012.

Increfest’s activities include software, animation and game competition where all competitions are open for startups (beginner company). Nominees that elected from final judging process will get a chance to attend a two nights business coaching. Winner will get not only cash prize but also attending a business matching in Taiwan with Ministry of Industry.
