Dapatkah Android NFC Menjadi Solusi e-Payment Bagi Indonesia?

Could Android’s NFC Become Indonesia’s e-Payment Solution?

Google’s Android handsets have been growing in popularity in Indonesia, just like in other countries where they can get a smartphone with relatively lower price compared to the iPhone. And to make things interesting, last year Eric Schmidt announced Android Gingerbread’s support for NFC (Near Field Communication) and of course payment is most likely to be the main usage.

In Indonesia, e-payment has been always an issue with almost no e-payment solution working properly. The reason? The users simply have no interest of using e-payment solution and quite happy with manual bank transfer which might be caused by the lack of service that’s easy enough for common user to use, e-payment requires to much hassle compared to e-banking or m-banking.

But of course, this can be easily disrupted.

Mencoba Aplikasi Koprol Untuk Android

Hands-on With Koprol’s Android App

I finally got the opportunity to try out Koprol’s Android app. Koprol has been quite busy doing renewals on their service, starting from merging account with Yahoo! which they’ve prepared since April 26, preparation for Android app- the pictures were exclusively posted in Daily Social – and today they are having an event in Jakarta using hashtag #ytownhall.

Koprol for Android is still in beta version and when I tried it out I encountered several times of “error”, I had to close it and re-access it to try their features. What they said in their email that it is “use at your own risk” is actually true. 😉

Eksklusif : Intip Aplikasi Koprol Untuk Android

Selamat menikmati 😉

Exclusive : Sneak Peek for Koprol’s Android App

It’s been too long for Koprol to come up with an Android app, they hired the super-Android-coder Kristiono Setyadi since last year only to launch the app not sooner than this Thursday on May 5th as informed exclusively to Dailysocial by Koprol’s co-founder Satya Witoelar. Witoelar said that there are few other tasks assigned to Kristiono Setyadi, resulting the long delay for the launch of the long-anticipated Android app.

Previously, Koprol already launched the service’s Blackberry app and gained some traction although not significant. And I think Koprol should pay more attention to its mobile strategy with the launch of several native apps for the location-based service. Koprol team also launched a touch-version for its website to calm the raging request for native apps from its users, and it seems that that strategy work quite well for Koprol. The Koprol touch is a good experience for using the service although couldn’t handle several function such as GPS-location and uses the IP-based location function instead.

Witoelar was kind enough to give exclusive sneak peek of Koprol’s Android app only to Dailysocial readers. Here you go, hot from the oven 😉

Lunch Time? Check out “Makan Di Mana” Before You Go

One application that will help you to choose a lunch spot is Makan Di Mana (Where to Eat) developed by PT Agranet Multicitra Siberkom, the owner of the famous news portal Detik.com. Available for iOS platform (iPhone) and Android, this free application offers a list of restaurants / places to dine in almost all over Indonesia. Indeed, most information is still in around Jakarta and major cities in Java, but if you check the list in other cities there are also already listed, for example in Banda Aceh or in Ambon.

There are five main features in this application, which are Promo, Nearest, Area & Category, Ask @ Bondan and Recommendations. From the five menus, the Nearest feature is the most useful for me right now.
