Multiply Finally Receives Payment with Credit Card

Multiply finalizes its payment system by starting receiving credit card. The timing is perfectly in placed, as Multiply is currently holding an online event “Shopfest”, dubbed as the largest sales festival for online shops. Yet, payment with credit card is now limited with the terms.

As stated in the press release, Multiply only receives credit card from by banks operating in Indonesia and only valid for purchase at Trusted Sellers (verified by Multiply).

This step marks the milestone of one year of Multiply Indonesia office. Starting by end of last year, even more, Multiply had moved its headquarter from Boca Raton (Florida) to Jakarta since its biggest market now lies in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia and Philippines. Multiply recently has installed new CEO, Stefan Magdalinski, to replace Peter Pezaris.

In Indonesia, Multiply claims to have 80,000 permanent stores, 2 million registered users, and 7 million unique monthly visitors.  Previously, Multiply has already accepted payment using bank transfer, ATM, Internet banking, PayPal and mobile payment. Mobile payment feature is collaborating with XL Axiata, using its XL Tunai.

Tiket.com Is Now Accepting Credit Card Payment

As announced by their Twitter account, Tiket.com finally accepts payment by credit card. Tiket.com claims that they use payment system using the best technology to detect fraud and to support 3D Secure. Payment gateway that they use is CyberSource, and it’s also used by many large companies such as Apple, Microsoft, and Symantec. One of things that become 3D secure warranty technology is a guarantee from Visa and MasterCard to do full refund in case of fraud.

Previously, when Tiket.com was launched, they only can accommodate payment via bank transfer (ATM) and BCA or Bank Mandiri Internet banking. Method of payment via credit card isn’t only ease to be done via web but for those who are using mobile web, Tiket.com can be used easily as well. Tiket.com currently serves hotel room reservations, theater tickets blitzmegaplex, and one or two events.

Tiket.com was launched last November and received a tremendous feedback. During the promotion period Tiket gave away a three day vacation package to Bali and recently announced the winner of that lucky draw. We’ll now see whether Tiket can make it, following the promo period, in the increasingly tight online travel booking business.

Pada dasarnya sama seperti sistem mobile banking yang sudah ada, namun layer security ini dikeluarkan secara langsung oleh Visa untuk memperkuat lapisan keamanan yang juga sudah di hampir semua situs e-commerce.

Will Google Wallet Succeed in Indonesia?

A few days ago, Google launched its Google Wallet which is a mobile app that enable cellphones to act just like a credit card to consumer. With an integrated NFC chip pre-installed (currently only in Google’s own Nexus S), consumer could just wave their phone in front of a reader in order to make payments. According to Stephanie Tilenius, VP of Commerce and Payments at Google, it envisions the cellphone to act as a personal financial hub for coupons, merchant loyalty points, payments and receipts.

There’s no doubt that this will change how consumer buy things online and offline, this will impact the world and Indonesia as one of the fastest growing economy in SEA is not an exception. Despite the low credit card penetration in the country, Google Wallet could still impact the credit card growth in Indonesia, if it plays nice.

But still, the question is : can Google Wallet help leverage Indonesia’s ecommerce scene?
