[Manic Monday] Music Discovery And Curation

Last Friday, I came (a bit late) to a discussion forum and get-together held by Seven Music, attended by people from many walks of life, among them artist management, bands that are just starting out, to bands who have signed on to Seven Music. I was introduced to a few of the attendees, among them a band called Tokyolite, who just finished their home recording EP, and were offering their CD for sale. It turns out that they have already had a chance to play on a TV show in Japan, after being discovered by the TV show’s producers through their YouTube videos. Tokyolite is naturally still at the start of their career, and if they are smart, they can take advantage of these opportunities to further their music careers.

[Simply Business] Kurasi Konten akan Mengambil Alih Web

Konten sering kali menjadi elemen yang paling diabaikan dari sebuah startup. Hal ini biasanya terjadi karena para founder dari startup adalah orang teknis dan orang teknis akan lebih berkonsentrasi pada keahlian mereka, yaitu: Teknologi. Mereka bisa ‘bermain-main’ selama beberapa hari bahkan bulan untuk menyempurnakan kode pemrograman mereka, ‘bermain’ dengan melakukan test dan melakukan scaling server secara gila-gilaan. Ya, ‘bermain’ dengan teknologi itu hebat, tetapi konten adalah Raja.

Tetapi konten itu sendiri tidak akan menjadi berharga jika ia tidak menambah nilai. Tanpa nilai, konten hanya berupa kebisingan, dan internet sudah penuh oleh kebisingan. Orang tidak perlu lagi menambahkan kebisingan dalam kehidupan mereka yang juga sudah rumit. Untuk membuat konten yang hebat, dibutuhkan kurasi. Kurasi diperlukan untuk membedakan antara kebisingan dengan konten yang bagus. Kurasi akan menambahkan nilai dan memilih hanya konten yang paling relevan untuk pengguna spesifik.

[Simply Business] Content Curation is Taking Over The Web

Content is often the most overlooked element of a startup. This usually happens because most founders are techies and techies concentrate on what they know best: Technology. They can tinker days and months perfecting their code, playing with the test unit and scaling the servers like crazy. Yes, playing with technology is awesome but content is King.

But content itself is worthless if it adds no value. Without value, content is just noise and the Internet is full of them! Nobody needs more noise in an already complicated life. To create great content, curation is needed. Curation is what differentiates between noise and great content. It adds value and selects only the most relevant content to specific users.
