Ini Dia Para Pemenang Golden Joystick Awards 2019, Resident Evil 2 Rebut Gelar Paling Bergengsi

Golden Joystick Awards juga dikenal sebagai People’s Gaming Awards karena ajang pemberian penghargaan gaming tersebut mempersilakan khalayak untuk berpartisipasi langsung dalam proses pemilihan judul permainan terbaik. Event tahun ini (Golden Joystick Awards ke-37) kembali diikuti oleh jutaan peserta dan seremoninya telah dilangsungkan di Bloomsbury Big Top di kota London minggu lalu.

Seperti biasa, para gamer dipersilakan memilih permainan favorit mereka selama 12 bulan ke belakang. Game-game di Golden Joystick Awards 2019 terbagi ke lebih dari 20 kategori, termasuk pemberian penghormatan pada sosok yang berjasa pada industri, aktor/aktris, streamer, hingga hardware terbaik. Tentu saja, di sana ada pula pemilihan permainan terfavorit di 2019, jatuh pada remake salah satu game survival horror fenomenal.

Pada akhirnya, Resident Evil 2  remake-lah yang sukses merebut gelar Ultimate Game of the Year di Golden Joystick Awards 2019. Game ini dirilis di awal tahun dan hingga saat ini Resident Evil 2 terus mengamankan urutan pertama permainan dengan skor rata-rata tertinggi di situs agregat review seperti OpenCritic serta Metacritic. Walaupun penyajiannya sangat berbeda dari versi tahun 1998-nya, Capcom berhasil menghindangkan pengalaman petualangan yang tak kalah mengerikan.

Berkat Resident Evil 2, zombie kembali terasa menakutkan. Dan dengan pemanfaatan perspektif kamera yang berbeda, Capcom mencoba mencari cara baru untuk menyembunyikan musuh – memanfaatkan faktor-faktor seperti pencahayaan dan asap. Desain audio juga memegang peranan penting di game. Suara-suara objek serta bunyi-bunyian yang dikeluarkan oleh mayat hidup jelas membuat permainan jadi lebih mencekam, dan inilah alasannya mengapa Resident Evil 2 sukses pula merebut titel Best Audio.

Daftar Game Pemenang Golden Joystick Awards 2017

Tanggal 17 November kemarin merupakan puncak Golden Joystick Awards 2017 karena di momen ini tim penyelenggara akhirnya mengumumkan permainan-permainan terbaik pilihan gamer setelah sebelumnya mengajak kita melakukan voting di bulan September. Acara tersebut dilangsungkan di The O2 London, dipandu oleh aktor sekaligus komedian Inggris Danny Wallace.

Dalam perhelatan yang disponsori oleh Omen by HP itu, satu judul permainan eksklusif Nintendo Switch tampak mendominasi: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Game ini menyabet tidak kurang dari lima kemenangan di kategori berbeda. Dan di Golden Joystick Awards ke-35 ini, panitia juga menganugerahkan penghargaan Lifetime Achievement pada desainer dan programmer game strategi legendaris, Sid Meier.

Golden Joystick Award memang tidak mengikuti aturan tradisional seperti ajang Game of the Year lain. Untuk event ke-35 ini, game di daftar nominasi tak harus telah tersedia atau dirilis di tahun 2017. Contohnya adalah Battlefield 1 yang sudah tersedia sejak Oktober 2016, atau Assassin’s Creed Origins yang saat daftar ini disingkap malah belum meluncur.

Namun ada sejumlah hal yang membuat saya heran: mengapa ada beberapa game yang betul-betul cemerlang seperti Lone Echo dan Divinity: Original Sin II tidak dimasukkan di sana? Lalu mengapa Titanfall 2 juga tidak disertakan, padahal umurnya seminggu lebih muda dari Battlefield 1?
