Go-Jek dan Indomog Menangi Enterpreneurship Delegation GEPI 2011

Di acara puncak Global Enterpreneurship Program Indonesia (GEPI) 2011 yang diadakan di Hotel Grand Hyatt, Nusa Dua, Bali akhir pekan ini, dua delegasi kewirausahaan menjadi pemenang dan berhak atas hadiah US$10.000. Keduanya adalah Go-Jek untuk kategori non-teknologi dan Indomog untuk kategori teknologi. Seleksi Enterpreneurship Delegation (EDEL) dalam rangkaian acara GEPI telah dilaksanakan tanggal 19-21 Juli lalu di mana 12 wirausahawan dan investor dari Amerika Serikat bertemu dengan lebih dari 100 startup di Indonesia. Kegiatan GEPI ini diadakan bersamaan dengan ASEAN Regional Enterpreneurship Summit (RES) yang diorganisir oleh Kementerian Perdagangan.

Selain Go-Jek dan Indomog, GEPI juga memilih PT Arah Environmental Indonesia dan SITTI sebagai pemenang kedua. Runners-up diduduki oleh Integrated Waste Management dan Marine Current Turbine untuk non-teknologi serta Game4Smart dan Prohukum untuk kategori teknologi. Pemenang kedua memperoleh US$5000 sementara runners-up berhak atas dana US$2500. Kami sempat memuat profil finalis bidang teknologi di post terdahulu.

Kaskus For iOS Still Needs Fixing, It’s a Bugs Galore

Collaborating with Apps Foundry, Kaskus as the biggest Indonesian Forum launches its official application for iOS universally and compatible for iPhone and iPad. With a minimum requirement of iOS 3.0, I’m sure it will still function properly on older version handset such as iPhone 3G or even first generation iPhone. Apps Foundry is known as a leading application developer with products such as Scoop for iPad.

I don’t remember when was Kaskus launched an application for iOS but the current one is already version 2.0, where according to the iTunes page, besides additional support for iPad, this new version claim to have fix various bugs and more enhanced performance. Previously, Kaskus already had several application for multiple platform like BlackBerry, Java and Symbian.

Kaskus untuk iOS Diperbarui, Masih Banyak Bug di Sana-Sini

Bekerja sama dengan Apps Foundry, Kaskus sebagai platform forum terbesar di Indonesia meluncurkan aplikasi resmi untuk iOS secara unversal dan bekerja untuk iPhone dan iPad. Dengan persyaratan minimal iOS 3.0, saya yakin masih dapat bekerja dengan handset versi lama, misalnya iPhone 3G atau bahkan iPhone generasi pertama. Apps Foundry kita kenal sebagai pembuat sejumlah aplikasi mobile ternama, seperti Scoop untuk iPad.

Saya tidak ingat kapan Kaskus pernah meluncurkan aplikasi untuk iOS tapi aplikasi yang sekarang sudah memiliki versi 2.0, di mana berdasarkan laman iTunes-nya, selain penambahan dukungan terhadap iPad, versi baru ini mengklaim memberikan perbaikan terhadap sejumlah bug dan peningkatan performa. Sebelumnya Kaskus juga sudah memiliki aplikasi untuk platform BlackBerry, Java dan Symbian.

Dear Kaskus dan Koprol, Tolong Benahi Mesin Pencari mu!

Pagi ini saya sedang berada di Grand Indonesia untuk bertemu dengan rekan, dan kebetulan bertempat di Starbucks Coffee. Sebagai pengguna setia Koprol, saya pun segera membuka laptop saya dan mencoba untuk check-in di Starbucks Grand Indonesia.

Saya mulai mencari lokasi tempat saya berada di Koprol, namun sayangnya kunci pencarian “starbucks grand indonesia” tidak menghasilkan apa-apa. Saya pun mencoba kunci pencarian “starbucks thamrin” berharap akan menghasilkan list semua Starbucks yang ada di jalan MH Thamrin, dan bertolak belakang dengan harapan saya, hasil pencarian kembali tidak menghasilkan apa-apa.

Membingungkan.

Dear Kaskus and Koprol, Please Fix Your Search Engine!

I was at Grand Indonesia this morning to meet a colleague at Starbucks Coffe. As one of Koprol’s devotee, I immediately turned on my laptop and tried to check in at Starbucks Grand Indonesia.

I then tried to find my location on Koprol, but unfortunately keywords “starbucks grand indonesia” gave me zero result. I tried other keywords, “starbucks thamrin” hoping the search engine would show me list of all Starbucks Coffees at Jl. MH Thamrin, and unlike what I was hoping for, the search engine showed me zero result. Again.

That, is confusing.

Still, I was curious. I tried other keywords like “starbucks plaza senayan“, “starbucks senayan city“, “j.co senayan city”, “coffee bean pacific place” and all keywords gave me nothing. I thought those keywords are common ones and most people will likely use them to find their location.

Kaskus : Bisnis Dan Loyalitas Komunitas

Belakangan ini Kaskus sedang didera kabar tidak enak, dimana 5 moderator yang notabene berasal dari komunitas dan tentunya bersifat sukarela tiba-tiba mengundurkan diri secara bersamaan. Hal ini terjadi hanya beberapa bulan setelah Kaskus sukses berpartnership dengan GDP Ventures untuk investasi guna membawa Kaskus ke level yang lebih tinggi.

Karena kedekatan waktu inilah, mulai berhembus isu tidak enak bahwa para moderator ini meninggalkan Kaskus sebagai bentuk protes atas ditolaknya permintaan “imbalan” para moderator sukarela ini setelah Kaskus mendapatkan dana segar. Andrew Darwis, CTO dan founder Kaskus langsung mengklarifikasi berita ini dengan menyatakan bahwa pengunduran diri dari para moderator ini tidak ada hubungannya dengan isu permintaan “imbalan”.

Kaskus: Business and Community Loyalty

Many of you must’ve heard what happened to Kaskus recently, that 5 of their moderators submitted their resignation at the same time, all of the sudden. It happened shortly after the news that Kaskus and GDP Ventures announced their partnership in order to bring Kaskus to the new and higher level.

These two events happening the previous after the latter brings out rumor that the resignation was due to Kaskus’ management refusing to “pay” the voluntary moderators after receiving fund. Andrew Darwis, CTO and founder of Kaskus immediately clarified the news by saying that the resignation of the moderators has nothing to do with the rumor.

Shortly afterward the said moderators release their official statement basically confirming what Andrew stated, that they do not ask for anything financially from Kaskus. The problem was solved quickly but it seems some people used this rumor to ruin Kaskus’ reputation.

Founder Kaskus Rilis Pernyataan Tentang Pengunduran Diri dari Para Moderator Forum

Kaskus mengalami lonjakan traffic sekitar 30% dalam 24 jam terakhir, karena pengunduran diri beberapa moderator dari forum populer. Berita itu telah menyebabkan spekulasi yang merajalela perihal sifat pengunduran diri di antara anggota forum yang memaksa pendiri dan CTO Kaskus, Andrew Darwis merilis pernyataan resmi, tanggal 7 Mei sekitar pukul 12 siang.

Poin utama dari pernyataan itu adalah sebagai berikut:

Kaskus, sejak kemarin mengalami lonjakan traffic sebesar 30 persen
Administrator menganggap hal ini sebagai sebuah tanda bahwa masih terdapat perhatian yang besar dan kepedulian para anggota forum
Lima moderator memang mengundurkan diri dalam 24 jam terakhir melalui saluran privat
Tidak ada kebenaran desas-desus bahwa moderator mencari hadiah atau pembayaran atas jasa mereka atau mereka dibebaskan atau diminta untuk mengundurkan diri
Kaskus menyesalkan bahwa berita ini telah menimbulkan spekulasi mengenai sifat pengunduran diri dan meminta anggota Kaskus untuk tidak percaya rumor tersebut

Kaskus Founder Releases Statement on Resignation of Forum Moderators

Kaskus experienced a traffic spike, roughly 30 percent, in the last 24 hours due to the resignation of several moderators from the popular forum. The news had led to rampant speculations as to the nature of the resignations among members of the forum that Kaskus Founder and CTO Andrew Darwis was forced to release an official statement earlier today.

The major points of the statement are as follows:

Kaskus is having a 30 percent boost in traffic since yesterday
The administrators take this as a sign that there is still strong interest and concern in the forums by the members
Five moderators indeed resigned in the last 24 hours through private channels
There is no truth to the rumors that the moderators sought a reward or payment for their services nor that they were released or asked to step down
Kaskus regrets that the news had cause speculations as to the nature of the resignations and requests that members are not to believe such rumors

We sought further statements from Darwis but he declined, saying he had said what needed to be said on the matter. We are monitoring the situation and will report any information we could gather on this issue.

The Effect of Kaskus Funding Towards Startup Ecosystem in Indonesia

Kaskus’ receiving funding from GDP Venture made headlines, not only because of the agreement itself but also its impact to startup ecosystem in Indonesia in macro scale.

And we can’t avoid rumors spreading quickly that Kaskus is estimated as $60 millions $80 millions or even $100 millions of value. Kaskus never did confirm their valuation when funded by GDP, getting everybody curious.
