Be Ready for Final Event of CHIP – Nokia Mobile Game Developer War

The series of events CHIP – Nokia Game Developer Camp and Developer War is entering final stage. Seminar, workshop, developer camp and developer war held in various cities like Jogja, Surabaya, Bandung and Jakarta will enter its final and closing event, on June 4, 2011.

DailySocial also followed the series of events among others in Bandung and Jogjakarta. You can check out the coverage here and here.

Now it’s time for the final stage, 6 winners from Jogjakarta and Bandung will compete with 3 winners representing Jakarta and Indonesia to “go on a war” and present their game applications and a live coding with higher level of challenges and difficulties. The finalists will be competing for a grand total of Rp 60.000.000 prize. The final will be held at fX Lifestyle X’nter – Jakarta on June 4, 2011.

Event Report: JGE Mobile Game Developer War and Winners List

DailySocial was back in Jogja, this time to see Jogja Game Expo (JGE)’s series of event that presented Mobile Game Developer War. The event was held at Grha Sabha Pramana – Gadjah Mada University (UGM), on 19 April 2011.

Like Game Developer War held in Bandung previously, the hall was magically transformed into ‘war zone’, equipped with presentation stage, and booth at the back side for finalists to introduce their mobile game to visitors.

DailySocial kembali hadir di Jogja, kali ini untuk melihat rangkaian acara Jogja Game Expo (JGE) yang menghadirkan Mobile Game Developer War. Acara diselenggarakan di Grha Sabha Pramana – UGM, para tanggal 19 April 2011.

Seperti layaknya acara Game Developer War yang diadakan sebelumnya di kota Bandung, aula disulap menjadi ajang ‘perang’ lengkap dengan panggung presentasi, di bagian belakang juga disediakan both bagi para finalis untuk memperkenalkan mobile game mereka pada para pengunjung.

Event Report: HackathonBDG #1

In the middle of heavy rain last Saturday in Bandung, at a café called Potluck Kitchen, HackerspaceBDG held and event called HackathonBDG.

If Yogya has #YKode, although in different format, Bandung now has this event which is planned to be held routinely. HackathonBDG asks anyone to join and work on their developing project or application.

From their official website, they explained that HackathonBDG is one of programs developed by HackerspaceBDG and aimed for whoever want to gather around and work on developing, completing, or creating personal application / project together. Participants of HackhatonBDG are expected to work on personal project / application.

Event Report: HackathonBDG #1

Ditengah hujan deras yang mengguyur kota Bandung hari Sabtu kemarin, bertempat di sebuah kafe bernama Potluck Kitchen, teman-teman dari HackerspaceBDG mengadakan acara hackathon yang diberi nama HackathonBDG.

Jika Jogja punya #YKode, meski dengan format berbeda, maka Bandung kini punya acara yang direncanakan menjadi agenda rutin ini, HackathonBDG mengajak siapapun untuk bergabung dan mengerjakan aplikasi atau project yang sedang dikembangkan.

Dari situs resmi mereka, dijelaskan bahwa HackathonBDG ini merupakan salah satu program yang dikembangkan oleh HackerspaceBDG dan diperuntukkan bagi siapapun yang ingin berkumpul dan bersama-sama mengembangkan, menyelesaikan atau membuat aplikasi / project pribadi. Peserta HackhatonBDG diharapkan mengerjakan aplikasi atau project yang bukan merupakan pekerjaan utama atau yang biasanya berasal dari klien tetapi aplikasi atau project yang merupakan project pribadi.

Event Report: Workshop Coding for Mobile Game Developer

Hari Rabu kemarin, bertempat di Gedung Kompas Gramedia, Jl. Palmerah Barat No.29, Jakarta, diadakan acara yang bertajuk Workshop Coding for Mobile Game Developer. Acara ini juga menjadi bagian dari rangkaian acara Mobile Game Developer War yang acara puncaknya akan diadakan di Jakarta pada tanggal 31 Mei 2011.

Rangkaian acara yang disponsori oleh Nokia ini meliputi Mobile Game Developer Camp dan Mobile Game Developer War yang beberapa waktu lalu diadakan di Bandung, serta workshop yang diadakan di Yogyakarta dan Surabaya. Acara ini juga didukung beberapa pihak seperti CHIP serta Agate Studio.

“Hackathon” on HackerspaceBDG

The Bandung atmosphere was quite cold, heavy rain had just flushed the city, leaving a wet soil. However, it was not the case that occurred in a room measuring 10 m x 3 m which contained the developers, who are struggling with their respective deadlines. Some of them were making applications for iOS and some were building a website.

HackerspaceBDG or Hackerspace Bandung is name of the place, and atmosphere of the room is warmed by the spirit of coding to finish the applications that must be completed.

Two of the developers in the HackerspaceBDG room, Yohan dan Asep were two names that may be DailySocial readers are familiar with. Yohan is the founder of Rserve.me and Asep was the founder of Magikube. Despite having their respective studios, now they are working together on a project to develop an application which must be completed within two days.

“Hackathon” di HackerspaceBDG

Suasana Bandung saat itu cukup dingin, hujan deras baru saja mengguyur kota, menyisakan tanah yang basah. Namun, tidak demikian yang terjadi di sebuah ruangan berukuran 10 m x 3 m yang berisi para developer, yang sedang berkutat dengan deadline masing-masing, ada yang membuat aplikasi untuk iOS ada juga yang sedang menyelesaikan sebuah website.

HackerspaceBDG nama tempat itu, dan suasana ruangan sedang hangat oleh semangat coding untuk menyelesaikan aplikasi yang harus segera selesai.

Dua dari pengembang di ruang HackerspaceBDG, Yohan dan Asep adalah dua nama yang bagi pembaca DailySocial mungkin tidak asing lagi, Yohan adalah founder dari Rserve.me dan Asep adalah founder dari Magikube. Meski memiliki studio masing-masing, kini mereka sedang bekerja sama dalam satu proyek untuk mengembangkan aplikasi, yang harus selesai dalam dua hari.

Mobile Billing from Nokia (Ovi Store) is Ready for Use, Opening Opportunities for Local Development

One of the things prepared by Nokia in the second quarter of 2011 is the mobile billing service integrated with their applications store, Ovi Store, which allows Indonesian users to download or buy applications from Ovi Store.

As written by Kompas a few days ago, Bob McDougall, Country Manager Nokia Indonesia said that they would set up paid services for Indonesian users relating to applications purchase directly from the Ovi Store that will begin to run in the second quarter of 2011.

Starting 7 April, the mobile billing service has been officially run for general consumers. Users can buy the paid applications directly with phone credit cutting system.

The Winners of Agate Mobile Game Developer War (+ Video)

Mobile Game Developer War Event which was held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 yesterday have been accomplished. This event was a final of Mobile Developer Camp event series that have been held for two weeks in Bandung, Jawa Barat – Indonesia.

The event was held by Agate Studios and sponsored by Nokia, featuring 10 finalists from 25 teams of Java-based game developers that previously had been through workshops and selection. 10 teams consisting of artists / graphic designers and programmers were presenting the results of their work, gave demonstrations and answered many questions from the judges.
