NawarTrus.com Puts Every E-commerce Model Under One Roof

As ecommerce company we often wonder which type of company we’d choose; Auction, daily deals, promo/discounts, or classified listing? Instead of endlessly scratching your head, why not combine them all into one website, like NawarTrus did?

It’s probably a bit odd because instead of sorting based on goods, NawarTrus sorts their customers based on which kind of transaction they’d like. Is it auction, daily deals, discounts, etc? It’s probably going to provide different alternatives for visitors, but in the end it might only confused them although goods sold on each sub products are different.

At NawarTrus‘s frontpage you will get information on six e-commerce sub products namely bidLowz, zeroBid, hotunique, groupbuys, punyaQu and eproxs. You can check on their website for the details to find out what you can do with each sub product.

It would be better if NawarTrus acts as an aggregator of the six sub products instead of merely informing products in general so visitors can check out directly and helps them to decide which sub product they want to use. And a more fundamental input, does this sub products category work well? If not, perhaps Nawartrus should think of other may to embrace e-commerce marketshare in the middle of competition with giants the likes of Rakuten, TokoBagus, Plasa.com, Blibli and others.

Email – eCommerce Champion

The following article is written by Josep William Widjaja, one of Bina Nusantara International University’s lecturers. He likes reading any book or magazine that talks about IT world, and listening to jazz. His interests are IT implementation on business and marketing, web and mobile development, and infrastructure.

Email often predicted, sooner or later, to be forgotten by everyone, considering other means of modern communication technology keep emerging.

As a simple example, communicating through mobile platform nowadays are more into BBM (BlackBerry Messenger – a huge hit for Indonesian) or WhatsApp that bridges communication between smartphone users; not to mention web based communication means, we have Social Media like Facebook message, Twitter message and other networking websites. People tend to think that communicating through such means are more personal and direct, trendier, and less hassle. In other words, more effective and efficient than email.

Will Google Wallet Succeed in Indonesia?

A few days ago, Google launched its Google Wallet which is a mobile app that enable cellphones to act just like a credit card to consumer. With an integrated NFC chip pre-installed (currently only in Google’s own Nexus S), consumer could just wave their phone in front of a reader in order to make payments. According to Stephanie Tilenius, VP of Commerce and Payments at Google, it envisions the cellphone to act as a personal financial hub for coupons, merchant loyalty points, payments and receipts.

There’s no doubt that this will change how consumer buy things online and offline, this will impact the world and Indonesia as one of the fastest growing economy in SEA is not an exception. Despite the low credit card penetration in the country, Google Wallet could still impact the credit card growth in Indonesia, if it plays nice.

But still, the question is : can Google Wallet help leverage Indonesia’s ecommerce scene?

DesaVirtual Changed Layout (again) and Turned Into Dvers.com

DailySocial wrote of desaVirtual or Desavirtual once, is a social network combining friendship element with e-commerce in one place and integrated. After awhile, Virtual village or Desavirtual change their appearance for the third time, this time with quite a significant change because they also change their logo and name into Dvers.com.

Changing facility in a service can be one of strategies to develop website, although I can’t say exactly when one product should change and when to stay developed as is, because it depends on many factors, including the service itself and of course competition level.

Plasa’s New Look. Seriously.

The high-profile and government-funded e-commerce website Plasa.com recently announce their new look, as Shinta Witoyo (CEO) tweeted yesterday. Plasa rumored to receive another round of funding by their parent company, Telkom for further development of the marketplace site.

Plasa’s new design actually looks more cramped compared to the old version. More content seemed to got put on the frontpage, and I’m not a UI expert or anything, but i kinda feel less comfortable compared to the old design. But overall, Plasa added more content to the site including their partnership with GantiBaju (Indonesia’s Threadless) and other relevant content about shopping etc.
