On Thursday MessageMe became the latest mobile messaging app that joins the sticker craze as it introduces a number of free and paid sets of stickers. The week before, TenthBit’s Couple also added stickers for its users. With Path and Facebook joining the sticker craze this year, it looks as if the prevailing way to monetize messaging apps is by selling stickers instead of charging to use their services. But evidence shows that there are other ways.

Indonesian Photo Sharing App PicMix to Reach 10 Million Users This Week, 140 Million Photos

When you have an idea for a product and the market you want to enter is crowded with competitors or has one giant leader, chances are your product won’t get noticed. Founder of social mobile platform Elasitas, Calvin Kizana, was in this position in 2011, having sold his company to a Malaysian venture. He was itching to start something new and saw an opportunity to fix Instagram. Problem is, he’s not gonna be able to fix Instagram directly, so he built PicMix, a photo sharing app which launched on BlackBerry in early 2012.

Stickers may not be a big thing for its domestic market, not yet anyway, but in Asia it’s a multimillion dollar business. One social network that has many in the tech industry scratching their heads is Path. From the looks of it few outside of the company itself understand Path, the seemingly Facebook clone that’s native to mobile devices. There had been questions about Path’s existence. Burpple Now Adds Descriptions to Photos, Turns Members Into Food Bloggers

Global Web Index merilis laporannya tentang platform sosial dan jumlah pengguna aktifnya di kuartal keempat 2012. Seperti biasa, Facebook mendominasi daftar ini di berbagai sisi, tapi layanan apa yang berada di posisi kedua? Menurut laporan tersebut, Google Plus (Google+) memiliki pengguna aktif paling banyak setelah Facebook, diikuti oleh YouTube dan Twitter. Posisi sepuluh besar berikutnya dikuasai oleh layanan asal Cina, di mana LinkedIn menjadi satu-satunya layanan global di jajaran posisi enam hingga sepuluh.
