IDBYTE Event: Android Mobile Application Development Competition

As part of IDBYTE‘s series of events, and supported by Qualcomm and HTC, organizer will held Android Mobile Application Development Competition for Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) based application and have not been published in Android Market. The application should demonstrate optimum use of mobile device, where a well implemented Augmented Reality (AR) technology on Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset and HTC cell phone will get extra points.

Chipset Snapdragon for Qualcomm is one of the most used chipset by high end Android based cell phone nowadays, while Taiwan based HTC is one of the biggest Android cell phone producers in the world. APAC MLearning Conference 2011, Mobile Learning Development Opportunity

APAC MLearning Conference 2011 held in Bandung on June 8-9, 2011. The first day was filled with two panel discussions and several keynotes from speakers including Dr. Serkan Toto, who is most likely familiar for DailySocial readers. He is TechCrunch’s contributor from Japan and consultant on web and mobile industry.

The event was started a bit late and had some difficulties with speakers’ presentation slides, but the content from this conference main theme – Mobile Learning (M-Learning) – was absolutely interesting, especially for startup or mobile developer’s exploration in Indonesia.

This conference is focusing on M-Learning’s future growth and development as the next part and stage of e-learning, a continuously growing learning process and now entering mobile area, which has great opportunity especially from mobile device growth and users behavior who considers mobile device as part of their life.

Echelon 2011 Ticket Selling is Extended up to June 11, 2011

Due to a lot of inquiries for Echelon 2011 tickets since registration was closed on June 3,  ticket selling will be reopened on June 8-11, 2011. Echelon will be held on June 16-17, 2011 in Singapore.

The event will present various speakers, launchpad and exhibition from various startups from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India, and of course, Indonesia. Indonesian startups like Bouncity, PriceArea and SixReps will pitch there. Startups like Goorme, Tasterous and SendokGarpu will join exhibition.

Event Report: Grand Final Chip-Nokia Mobile Game Developer War 2011 and List of Winners

After competition and elimination process in BandungJogja, and Jakarta, Chip-Nokia Mobile Game Developer War held its grand final on Saturday June 4, 2011 at fX Mall starting on 10am. Over 200 people attended the event.

Competition held by CHIP and Nokia, supported by Agate Studio, DigiGames and HotGame was started by prize giving to Jakarta regional winners, followed by opening speech from Haryati Lawidjaja, Nokia Indonesia Head of Service and Elwin Siregar, Director of PT Gramedia Majalah.

This final stage was a war zone for 9 teams of: Team Dramit – School Escape, Team Hantu Digital – Hantu Digital, Team Dongskar Pedongi – Bhineka Tunggal Ika, Team OMG – Arjuna Sang Pemanah, Team Enlight Games Studio – Waroeng Ekspres, Team Sate – Too Much Satay, Team Anonim – Malin Kundang, Team Omah Games – Nakula Sadewa and Team Aksanesia – Aksara.

Mobile Development Day Event and A Little Story on Internet/Mobile Market in Medan – Indonesia

Last Saturday, not only in Yogyakarta, but in Medan was also enlivened by a various events related to technology world and Internet. At least there are 3 events that I know, Medan Mobile Game Development Day sponsored by Nokia, Android event and idbloglicious roadshow which was held by idBlognetwork.

Unfortunately for the event associated with Android I did not have the info and was not present at the event, while for two other events, I had the opportunity to stop by and talk with the organizers.

For Mobile Development Day event, the event was organized by the local committee of the WebMedia, a computer training service provider, website development and IT solutions. The event was attended by 400 participants from various backgrounds, ranging from students, vocational, practitioners and the general public. The event held at the Hotel Madani, Gelora Ballroom, Jl. Sisingamangaraja no. 1 – Medan was presenting five speakers include Narenda Wicaksono – Developer Manager of Nokia Development, Kresna Dewantara – Chief Technical Officer of Armanovus Indonesia, Yuandra I. and Paramitha H. – Winner of Mobile Game DevWar Bandung, Firstman M – President of NICE, Shieny Aprillia – COO Agate Studio dan Erick Kurniawan – Co-founder NICE.

1st Gamelan Meetup – Jogja and INAICTA 2011 Public Announcement

Gamelan – Jogja’s GameDev Startup community, held its very first meetup on Friday, on May 27th 2011. The event was quite enthusiastically welcomed by its participants that come from game developers, be it business personages, programmers, artists, composers, as well as students. In the event, there was public announcement of INAICTA 2011 too. This first Gamelan meetup was supported by ADGY (Asosiasi Developer Game Yogyakarta or Yogyakarta’s Game Developer Association), IGDA (International Game Developer Association), DEPKOMINFO, dan Wisely Management.

The speakers in the event that was held in Potret Cafe, Jl. Anggajaya III – Taman Kuliner, Condong Catur, Sleman were Frida Dewi (UB Games), Kris Antoni (Toge Production), then followed by a public announcement of INAICTA 2011 and then some sharing sessions from some of previous INAICTA’s winners. There was this interesting “five minutes session”, in which some local developers demonstrated, presented, their work or product only in five minutes.

Last weekend Yogyakarta was enlivened with various events related to the world of technology and startup, DailySocial recorded at least there were 3 events held on Friday until Saturday. Here’s a brief coverage of two events held on Friday and Saturday in Yogyakarta.

Yogyakarta – SparxUp Seminar “Monetizing Mobile Advertising Age”

Last Friday, May 27, 2011 was held the SparxUp Seminar event in cooperation with Bancakan 2.0 and assisted by HIMAKOM friends at the University Club University of Gadjah Mada. Presenting the theme “Monetizing Mobile Advertising Age. ”

At the SparxUp Seminar this time, there was an additional speaker Leonard Augustinus – Indonesia Account Manager, Mobile Advertising Google as one of the main speakers. The next keynote speaker was Edo Pamungkas – Mobile Platform Manager from Merah Putih Incubator and one guest speakers namely Sigit Purnomo – Founder of Personaflag.com (Winner of SparxUp Awards for Mobile Category).

Finalists of Chip-Nokia Mobile Game Developer War

Chip-Nokia Mobile Game Developer War is entering final stage and will be held on June 4, 2011 in Jakarta. The event will present local game developers and is supported by Agate Studio, DigiGames, HotGame and DailySocial.

After 2 qualification rounds, now they have all the finalists they need. Previously committee provided opportunity for 3 additional finalists to complete the 6 finalists from 2 Mobile Game Developer War held in Bandung and Jogja.

The 3 finalists will compete against each other with other 6 finalists for a total of Rp 60 million Grand Prizes, by presenting their game application with live coding if they pass stage one.

Event: APAC MLearning Conference 2011

APAC MLearning Conference 2011, a regional scale event on mobile industry organized by CommTech Asia will be held in Bandung on June 8-9, 2011. Claiming as the “it” mobile learning and edutainment event, it will be held at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Jalan Sumatra 51 Bandung and invites two main speakers Prof. John Traxler, Profesor Mobile Learning from University of Wolverhampton, Inggris, and Dr. Serkan Toto and independent consultant on web and mobile industry from Japan and correspondent for TechCrunch.

The speakers will give updates on the latest developments in mobile industry, best practice and industry commercialization, which are a lot faster than development of web based industry itself. And that mobile industry is the future industry, of course we are all believers. What I find interesting in this conference are “Cashless Payment, Mobile Payment and Mobile Commerce” and “Fusion of Edutainment in Mobile Music, Games and TV Development”.

Jogja’s Events This Weekend: SparxUp Seminar, Gamelan, and IDBYTE

Jogja will be a merrier city by this weekend thanks to three startup events. SparxUp Seminar on May 27, 2011 at University Club Gadjah – Mada University, and on the same day there will be GameDev StartUp Community Jogja – Gamelan launching at Potret Cafe, Taman Kuliner Condong Catur, Sleman. On Saturday May 28, 2011 IDBYTE will be held at STIMIK AMIKOM.

As for SparxUp, last March the seminar was held in Yogya on “Technology Trends for Digital”. This month’s SparxUp theme will be the same like FOWAB‘s theme recently, “Monetizing Mobile Advertising Era”. SparxUp Jogja this time collaborates with Bancakan 2.0 and will be assisted by friends from HIMAKOM.

The speakers will be Edo Pamungkas – Mobile Platform Manager from Merah Putih Incubator and one guest speaker Sigit Purnomo – Founder Personaflag.com (winner of SparxUp 2010for Mobile Category). The event will be held on May 27, 2011 at University Club Universitas Gadjah Mada, Jalan Pancasila No.2 Bulaksumur, Yogyakarta on 19.00-22.00 WIB.
