Apple WWDC 2012 Keynote Recap

Note: This post takes into account the author’s experiences as ex-Microsoft evangelist and a cross-platform mobile app vendor. It is not from a tech blogger rejoicing the new hardware line-ups, rather it’s from the personal experience of a man sitting in the middle of the Presidio Room, where the Keynote took place in Level 3 of Moscone West, San Francisco.

The Arrival

I’ve read from Twitter that people have been queuing since 12 midnight last night, but I thought they were just crazy. Confidently, today at 6.30am I started walking downhill towards Moscone West, hoping the queue won’t be really long.

Oh how wrong I was! By the time I arrived before 7am, the queue already formed a wrap-around. Like a snake circling its prey, the queue was already 1 complete loop around the block! “At least I got some sleep, “ I comforted myself and started to queue from the tail…

At around 9.45am, I managed to enter the huge Presidio Room and found a seat somewhere in the middle, not too close to the stage, but not too close to the exit either. I guess it was worth it, compared to standing from 3am, getting a front-row seat but having sleep-deprivation 🙂

Day Two Recap of All That Matters Conference 2012

Widi Asmoro is the Entertainment Services Manager for Nokia Indonesia who is currently attending All That Matters Conference in Singapore representing Nokia Indonesia as one of the event’s sponsors. This post appeared originally on his personal blog.

Wednesday, 23 May 2012, rain fell in Singapore and pushed back the start of the second day of Digital Matters. The second day focuses on how to monetize content through existing platforms and challenges in which people no longer access contents through just a singe device. The ability to access content on multiple screens became the main topic of discussion among panelists.

The opening keynote speech came from Brian Taptic, VP International Development for Zynga, who underlined his company’s vision of connecting people through social games. Case studies such as the Coca Cola campaign through CityVille is a fascinating study into how a brand can influence its potential customers through a series of stories developed through interaction within the social game. People are no longer forced to see ads and they would even voluntarily participate in promoting the product to others.

Day One Recap of All That Matters Conference 2012

Widi Asmoro is the Entertainment Services Manager for Nokia Indonesia who is currently attending All That Matters Conference in Singapore representing Nokia Indonesia as one of the event’s sponsors. This post appeared originally on his personal blog.

As I did last year, this year I received the opportunity to attend the Asian music and technology discussion, Digital Matters & Music Matters. As with last year, this event is being held at Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore for four days between 22-25 May 2012. Even though this is an Asian event, the speakers are world class. On the first day we had Ralph Simon, a mobile content entertainment guru, Michael Schneider a top mobile app developer who developed apps for Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, as well as Ted Machover, a lecturer and professor at MIT Lab.

The first day began with three workshops; Gaming Matters, Digital Publishing Matters, and Video Matters, all of which were happening concurrently which meant that attendees had to choose which workshop to follow. I went with Video Matters. In the afternoon after lunch, President of Digital & Music Matters Jasper Donat led the opening ceremony and followed by several panel discussions such as digital entertainment, publisher’s challenge to monetize digital content and to chose the right platform to create apps.
