Six Indonesian Startups to Participate in the Startup Marketplace at Echelon 2012

From 16 startups that pitched in the Indonesia satellite event on 7 April 2012, eight were chosen to participate in the Startup Marketplace, six of which are of Indonesian origin. The six startups from Indonesia are Bistip, Fokado, HelloGoodBuy, KlikEat, Tandif and TourExplora.

Startup Marketplace is an exhibition event for startups considered as having the most potentials in Asia nowadays. The exhibition will take place during Echelon 2012, June 11-12 in Singapore. By participating in the exhibition, the six startups from Indonesia will have a chance to attract investors to gain funding. They will also get a chance to cooperate and promote to the regional Asian media. A total of 45 startups will participate in Startup Marketplace.

Aside from the six startups, e27 mentioned that Startup Marketplace will also feature 39 other startups from 11 countries. They come from Singapore (AtticTV, Dropmyemail, Evenpanda, Gimmie, Payroll Hero, Perx, Redmart, RichMediaAds, ShopSpot, Splaype, Squiryl, TripFlick), Japan (Backlog, Beatrobo, Cacoo, Feel On, Panoplaza, Snapdish), South Korea (Between, Recood), Vietnam (Biaki, Tiki), Philippines (Bolooka), Thailand (Builk, Eidos) Hongkong(Busification, I-Influence, iDonate, Snapshock), Taiwan (Citydomo, Docubank, LongGood, LuxJoy, Ragic), India (Cruxbot), Malaysia (Mobile9, Taximonger, XpressCover) and the United States (SupportBee).

Team Europe Enters Asia through South Korea

Successful in incubating a couple of startups in Europe, Team Europe now starts paying attention to Asian startups, by opening an office in South Korea. This new office in Korea will be used as its headquarters in starting activities in several countries in Asia.

Korea is chosen as the opening for Team Europe in Asia, according to Markus Fuhrmann, one of Team Europe’s partners, because they see that Korea has the potential in the internet and mobile ecosystem. As reported by Tech Wire Asia, Fuhrmann also said that South Korea resembles Berlin in the olden days.

Team Europe’s office in South Korea will be lead by Ludolf Ebner-Chung, a German born Korean who previously worked as a consultant in McKinsey. Fuhrmann will help in handling investment issues through the subsidiary, Point Nine Capital.

In Europe, Team Europe is involved with some startups like Spreadshirt, studiVZ, brands4friends, Sponsorpay, Madvertise, Misterspex, and Delivery Hero. Those startups engage in e-commerce, online learning community, mobile ad, game ad, online food order and online ad.

6 Startup Indonesia Akan Ikuti Startup Marketplace Echelon 2012

Dari 16 startup yang melakukan pitching pada acara Satellite Indonesia pada 7 April lalu, 8 startup (6 diantaranya dari Indonesia) terpilih untuk mengikuti Startup Marketplace. 6 startup asal Indonesia tersebut adalah Bistip, Fokado, HelloGoodBuy, KlikEat, Tandiff dan TourExplora.

Startup Marketplace adalah sebuah ajang eksibisi bagi startup yang dianggap paling potensial di Asia saat ini. Eksibisi tersebut akan berlangsung selama acara Echelon 2012, 11-12 Juni nanti di Singapura. Dengan melakukan eksibisi, 6 startup asal Indonesia tersebut akan mempunyai kesempatan untuk menarik investor agar memperoleh pendanaan. Team Europe Masuki Asia Lewat Korea Selatan

Sukses dalam menginkubasi beberapa startup di Eropa, Team Europe kini mulai mengawasi startup–startup Asia, dengan membuka sebuah kantor di Korea Selatan. Kantor baru di Korea ini akan digunakan sebagai basis mereka dalam memulai aktivitas di beberapa negara di Asia.

Dipilihnya Korea untuk membuka jalan Team Europe di Asia, menurut Markus Fuhrmann, salah seorang partner Team Europe karena mereka melihat Korea mempunyai potensi besar dalam ekosistem internet dan mobile. Seperti yang dikutip dari Tech Wire Asia, Fuhrmann juga menambahkan bahwa Korea Selatan mirip dengan Berlin di waktu lampau.

Kantor Team Europe di Korea Selatan akan dipimpin oleh Ludolf Ebner-Chung, orang lokal Korea keturunan Jerman yang sebelumnya bekerja sebagai konsultan di McKinsey. Sedangkan Fuhrmann akan membantu di sana mengurusi masalah investasi melalui anak perusahaan mereka, P oint Nine Capital.

[Event]: Echelon 2012 Mencari 50 Startup Asia Paling Potensial

Echelon 2012, sedang mencari 50 startup Asia paling potensial, untuk diberi kesempatan melakukan eksibisi pada Startup Marketplace Echelon 2012. 10 startup terbaik di antara 50 tersebut, juga akan mendapatkan kesempatan untuk melakukan pitching di hadapan panelis dan penonton pada acara Echelon 2012 yang digelar pada 11-12 Juni 2012 di University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore.

Untuk memilih 50 startup tersebut, Echelon 2012 mengadakan acara yang bernama Satellites. [Event]: Echelon 2012 Looking For 50 Most Potential Asia Startup

Echelon 2012 is looking for potential 50 Asia startups to be given the opportunity to do an exhibition at Startup Marketplace Echelon 2012. 10 of the best 50 startups will also get a chance to pitch in front of panelists and audience at Echelon 2012 event on June 11 – 12, 2012 at the University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore.

To select the 50 startups, Echelon 2012 holds an event called Satellites. This year, Satellites will be held in six cities in Asia namely Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei and Tokyo. In Jakarta, Satellites will be held on April 7, 2012. The venue has not been decided yet.

Registration to join Satellites can be done on this link. Online registration will be open until March 31, 2012. To simplify the registration process, the organizer follows One-sentence Pitch format introduced by Adeo Ressi from Founders Institute. Several candidates will be chosen from the registered participants and will be invited to do a presentation at the Satellites event.

Asian Can also be the Pioneer for Innovation

The title above is the statement underlined by Serkan Toto, a Japan-based Techcrunch contributors, on his keynote presentation at SparxUp Awards Conference 2011. We all know that most of Asian startups tend to clone US startups. However, cloning is not bad since there are some successful clone acquired or funded for millions of dollars. Moreover, cloning is not monopolized by Asian startups only. European startups, or even the US startups also do the same thing.

Asia Juga Bisa Jadi Pionir Inovasi

Judul di atas merupakan salah satu hal yang ditegaskan oleh Serkan Toto, seorang Jerman yang bermukim di Jepang dan merupakan kontributor untuk Techcrunch, dalam keynote di ajang SparxUp Conference 2011. Memang seperti yang kita tahu kebanyakan startup di Asia cenderung merupakan clone dari apa yang yang sudah dihasilkan di Amerika Serikat, bukan berarti clone itu jelek karena banyak juga clone yang sukses diakuisisi ataupun mendapatkan pendanaan puluhan hingga ratusan juta dollar.
