Eternal Grace, The First Game Project in Wujudkan

On Kickstarter, a game project titled “Double Fine Adventure” broke a record for getting the largest funding. Double Fine Adventure gained support from 87.142 people and got a fund of US$2.226.371 (approximately 834% of the actual amount needed, US$400.000).

There are many other game projects that managed to get funding from Kickstarter. What if a game project hopes to get required funding (with crowdfunding) in Indonesia?

This was attempted by Enthrean Guardian, which submitted a game project to Wujudkan. The game project that titled Eternal Grace requires funding of 50 million Rupiah and expected until August 9, 2012.

According to the description given by Enthrean Guardian team on Wujudkan’s page, Eternal Grace is a PC based J-RPG game which combined Dragon Quest like classic gameplay with action fighting system popularized by the Tales series. This game is also referred to include elements of Indonesia which is wrapped in a unique and interesting storytelling style.

[Music Monday] Tunggu, Internet Dapat Menghasilkan Uang untuk Musik?

Industri (rekaman) musik ada di masa gelap akhir-akhir ini, terutama di Indonesia – saya telah menuliskan beberapa tulisan tentang situasi ini jadi saya tidak akan mengulangnya. Tetapi keambrukannya bisa dirangkum seperti ini: saat ini tidak ada cara nyata bagi industri (rekaman) musik untuk bisa menghasilkan uang dari karya mereka. Penjualan CD menurun, musik melalui perangkat bergerak akan menghadapi krisis, dan tidak ada layanan musik online di pasar lokal yang benar-benar layak untuk disebutkan. Tapi ini bukan berarti internet tidak bisa menghasilkan uang buat Anda, musisi atau label musik.

Saya mengakui bahwa pernyataan saya agak meluas tentang hal ini – saya tidak akan mengatakan bahwa ada jutaan cara untuk mendapatkan uang bagi musik langsung dari internet, tetapi jelas ada banyak cara untuk menjamin internet bekerja untuk Anda dan bisa mendatangkan uang yang Anda butuhkan. Musik mungkin secara sudah pada dasarnya gratis untuk sebagian pendengar musik, tetapi itu tidak berarti membuat musik yang Anda inginkan tidak membutuhkan uang. Bahkan mengunduh Audacity atau Gamelan butuh biaya untuk akses internet.

[Music Monday] Wait, You Can Make Money For Music From The Internet?

The [recorded] music industry has been in very dark days lately, especially in Indonesia – I’ve frequently written about the current situation so I won’t revisit it. But the breakdown is this: there is currently no real way the [recorded] music industry can make money from their work. CD sales are diminishing, music through mobile is going through a crisis, and there’s not really an online music store worth mentioning for the local market. But this does not mean that the Internet cannot make money for you, the musician or music label.

I’ll admittedly be broad about this – I won’t say there are a million ways to make money for music directly from the Internet, but there are definitely a lot of ways to make sure the Internet works for you and gets you that much-needed money. Music may be virtually free for most music listeners, but it doesn’t mean making the music you want does not cost money. Even downloading Audacity or Gamelan will take some money off your Internet bill.

Trying to pitch to a music magazine to cover your band may not cost money but bringing along coffee for the journalists goes a long way. And so on. Even if you’re a self-proclaimed indie artist that does not want to spend money, eventually you’d need money for food, right?

Founder Institute Graduate Wujudkan Crowdfunds Creative Projects

One of the first batch of Jakarta Founder Institute graduates is Wujudkan.com. The site went live several days ago. As explained in its Facebook Page, Wujudkan is a website dedicated to Indonesian artists and creators gaining the support from all people to realize their creative work.

Sanny Gaddafi, a Director of Jakarta Founder Institute, in startuplokal mailing list explained that basically this is a crowdfunding website for a project. At this stage, Wujudkan has put one project online; a film by notable Indonesian filmmaker Riri Riza and producer Mira Lesmana.

Wujudkan.com Rilis Versi Beta

Salah satu lulusan Jakarta Founder Institute angkatan pertama yaitu Wujudkan.com, akhirnya go alive dengan versi beta pada hari kemarin. Seperti yang dijelaskan di Facebook Page-nya, Wujudkan.com adalah sebuah website yang diperuntukkan bagi artis, seniman dan kreator Indonesia untuk mendapatkan dukungan dari semua orang dalam mewujudkan karya kreatif mereka.

Sanny Gaddafi – salah satu Director dari Jakarta Founder Institute pada milis #startuplokal menjelaskan bahwa pada dasarnya ini adalah website crowdfunding untuk sesuatu proyek. Pada versi beta ini, Wujudkan telah menempatkan satu proyek, yaitu proyek pembuatan film yang disutradarai oleh Riri Riza dan produser Mira Lesmana.
