Kompas.com for BlackBerry PlayBook

Along with the anouncement released of PlayBook tablet, which took place on July, 7 2011, the media giant Kompas displays Kompas.com for BlackBerry PlayBook which of course can be downloaded for free. Previously for BlackBerry PlayBook, Kompas already featured Editor’s Choice which is a collection of writings curate by Kompas Editor.

As quoted by Kompas Tekno, Edi Taslim, as Business General Manager of Kompas.com, stating the reason of making this application, “Why do we need to make a Kompas.com application tablet version? Because we want to provide an alternative to tablet users in accessing Kompas.com in a convenient, intuitive, and utilize the features and character of the tablet device like the BlackBerry Playbook. ”

Kompas.com Untuk BlackBerry PlayBook

Seiring dengan masuknya tablet BlackBerry PlayBook secara resmi yang dilangsungkan tadi malam, raksasa media Kompas menampilkan Kompas.com untuk BlackBerry PlayBook yang tentunya dapat diunduh secara gratis. Sebelumnya untuk BlackBerry PlayBook Kompas sudah menampilkan Editor’s Choice yang merupakan kumpulan tulisan yang dikurasi oleh Editor Kompas.

Seperti dikutip dari Kompas Tekno, Edi Taslim selaku Business General Manager Kompas.com menyebutkan alasan pembuatan aplikasi ini, “Kenapa perlu membuat aplikasi Kompas.com versi tablet? Karena kami ingin memberikan alternatif kepada pengguna tablet dalam mengakses Kompas.com dengan cara yang nyaman, intuitif, dan memanfaatkan fitur serta karakter perangkat tablet seperti BlackBerry PlayBook.”

Koprol Sudah Punya Aplikasi untuk PlayBook?

Koprol hari ini meluncurkan frontpage baru mereka dalam rangka membuat daya tarik yang mendunia dan memulai disain ulang yang telah lama dinantikan untuk memudahkan dan membersihkan interface situs mereka. Mengikuti sebuah petunjuk desain yang dimulai dari tampilan untuk layar sentuh, kini tampilan keseluruhan telah dibawa ke tampilan situs yang lebih besar dan hari ini, kita bisa melihat bahwa hal tersebut telah dibawa ke aplikasi mendatang namun belum diumumkan yang ditampilkan di Playbook.

Satya Witoelar dan Aryo Kresnadi dari Koprol memuat beberapa foto yang berbeda di akun Koprol mereka untuk menunjukkan tampilan aplikasi baru tersebut. Karena keduanya masih belum menanggapi pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diajukan mengenai foto-foto tersebut, maka masih belum jelas apakah aplikasi tersebut merupakan aplikasi web yang ditujukan bagi piranti tablet secara umum atau hanya untuk PlayBook. Dari tampak depan fotonya, cenderung terlihat sebagai aplikasi web, bukannya sebuah native app, namun kita akan informasikan lebih lanjut bila atau ketika mereka memberitahu.

Koprol has a PlayBook app already?

Koprol today launched its new front page in a move to internationalize its appeal and kick start its long-awaited redesign to simplify and clean up its interface. Following a design cue that began with the touch-oriented mobile site, the overall look was carried over to the larger site and today, we see that it has been brought over to the upcoming yet unannounced application shown on the PlayBook.

Koprol’s Satya Witoelar and Aryo Kresnadi both posted different photos to their respective Koprol accounts showing what the new app looks like. As neither have yet to respond to queries about the photos, it’s unclear whether the app is a web app meant for tablets in general or if it’s a specific application for the PlayBook. From that single front-on shot, it looks more like a web application instead of a native app but we’ll find out if or when they let us know.

We’d also like to know what’s going on with the long-awaited iPhone app. Late last year we were informed that the iPhone app was in concurrent development with the Android app but apparently that has changed and is now scheduled to be released after the Android app. We’re also hearing that its development had been handed over to Singapore, whether it’s Yahoo!’s developers in Singapore or an external developer, we’ve yet to find out.

BlackBerry Playbook Officially Supports Android Application

A surprising announcement, but predicted, launched by Research in Motion (RIM). This popular smart phone maker announced the availability of its Playbook tablets by mid-April in the United States and Canada. Reportedly Playbook will enter Indonesian market at least on early May. What surprising is not the confirmation of its launch date, but the Playbook support on Android applications which is compatible with the Operating System version 2.3 (Gingerbread). Playbook also supports the development of applications using Native C/C++, HTML5, Adobe Flash, and Adobe AIR, as well as support for the gaming engine Airplay SDK and Unity 3.

The announcement appears to remove the arrogance of the BlackBerry which was standing strong against the threat of Android and the iPhone. Through his press release, Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO of RIM said that additional BlackBerry applications with Java and Android for BlackBerry Playbook via BlackBerry App World will provide more options for users and the flexibility of this platform. BlackBerry Playbook itself has a BlackBerry Tablet operating system based on QNX, which the author was acquired by RIM a year ago.

Mencoba BlackBerry PlayBook di BlackBerry DEVCON Asia 2011 (+ Video)

Pada hari pertama acara BlackBerry DEVCON Asia 2011 saya juga berkesempatan untuk melihat dan bermain-main BlackBerry PlayBook, yang untuk pertama kalinya tampil di wilayah Asia.

Saya membaginya menjadi 4 episode dimana saya mencoba sendiri PlayBook yang memang sengaja dipamerkan untuk dicoba oleh peserta di BlackBerry DEVCON Asia 2011 ini, dan satu video lagi adalah demo yang diberikan RIM untuk memberikan gambaran apa saja yang bisa dilakukan di PlayBook. Sebagai catatan untuk tampilan game, itu bukan game sebenarnya tetapi hanya demo, akselerometer pada PlayBook saat dipamerkan belum tersedia, tetapi nantinya akan tersedia, demo ini untuk memperlihatkan kemampuan yang dimiliki PlayBook.
