A few days ago Ohdio was relaunched with a brand new design and an entirely new approach to enjoying the service. I have been a fan of Ohdio from the beginning and still believe it has a good chance of becoming successful even though the service hadn’t really found its strength until recently. This new approach reinvigorates not just general interest in the service but also its possibility of success. Not only that, it helps introduce Indonesians to a modern way to enjoy music.

Menjalankan bisnis yang melisensikan sesuatu untuk layanan-layanan digital tidaklah mudah. Pertama, karena dasar hukum bisnis lisensi tergantung pada perlindungan hak kekayaan intelektual, yang nyatanya sangat tergantung pada keseriusan pemerintah setempat dalam pelaksanaannya; terlebih lagi adanya perbedaan regulasi di setiap negara, meski berbagai upaya untuk menstandarkannya melalu badan-badan seperti WIPO sudah dilakukan. Bisnis lisensi juga intinya adalah bisnis yang berdasarkan izin, yang bergantung pada kontrol dan kepercayaan – dua hal yang sulit ditegakkan di ranah internet.

Fokado Founder Launches Multifunction TaDa! Gift Card

After months in development, Antonius Taufan, who co-founded Fokado following his term at Founder Institute, officially launched his second company Giftcard.co.id. The service actually went live in February of this year and had been acquiring clients at a rapid pace. The corporate oriented company offers gift cards and shopping vouchers from over 40 major partners across many different categories as well as its own TaDa! branded multifunction gift cards.

[Manic Monday] The Digital World Has Its Roots In The Physical World

In our increasingly digital world, we still cannot separate ourselves from physical objects. We [still] have physical bodies, not in energy or electronic form, and still interact with physical things. The computer/tablet/handphone that you’re holding? That’s your window into the digital world, although this ‘window’ still differs from person to person, and that’s if they have access. Perhaps you haven’t bought a CD for years and choose to look for songs on the Internet (regardless of legality)? You’d still need a set of speakers or headphones to listen to them.

[DS Notes] Who Needs Hashtags Anymore?

Thanks to Twitter, the pound sign or the hash has been reborn as a topic marker and renamed the hashtag, its primary purpose is now to assist people on Twitter and other social networks seeking others talking about the same topic, but as with everything, it often gets abused, misused, and hijacked. Charlie Warzel at BuzzFeed argues that the hashtag may have outlived its usefulness especially since Twitter itself has changed how search works and now shows non-tagged posts containing the same words.

[Event] Seminar Digital Content Creation di Institut Manajemen Telkom

Prodi Manajemen Bisnis Telekomunikasi dan Informasi dari Institut Manajemen Telkom mennyelenggarakan semian acara seminar yang berjudul ‘Digital Content Creation – inspiring for better future’. Acara ini akan diadakan tanggal 31 Mei 2013 di Institut Manajemen Telkom, Bandung.

Acara ini akan menghadirkan pembicara dari berbagai bidang yang akan membagikan pengetahuan mereka tentang potensi konten digital serta cara mengaplikasikan sebagai bisnis masa depan.

Para pembicara yang akan hadir antara lain: dari idea Creator yang diwakili oleh Ir, Budi Rahardjo, M.Sc., Ph.D., dari sisi developer diwakili oleh Yohan Totting dan dari digital marketer diwakili oleh Italo Gani. Acara sendiri akan diadakan di aula Institut Manajeman Telkom, Jl. Telekomunikasi, Terusan BuahBatu Bandung. Mulai pukul 13.00 WIB sampai dengan selesai.

Lebih lanjut seminar ini akan memberikan penjelasan atas siapa saja yang terlibat dalam pengembangan konten digital, bagaimama ide memasuki tahap filter dan proses menjadi sebuah konten digital, lalu bagaimana ide tersebut diekseskusi, tools dan media apa saja yang dipakai untuk memproses ide, dan bagaimana monetisasi konten digital akan bisa dikonsumsi secara lokal maupun internasional. Seminar juga akan membahas tentang bagaimana model distribusi konten, serta strategi advertising yang dibutuhkan.

Game Horror Dreadout Berhasil Mencapai Target Penggalangan Dana di Indiegogo

Game horror lokal yang juga merupakan salah satu finalis id-byte 2013, DreadOut, kemarin (19/5) telah menerima pendanaan  penuh dari situs crowdfunding Indiegogo, 12 jam lebih cepat dari tenggat waktu yang telah ditentukan. Digital Happiness, perusahan Bandung yang mengembangkan game ini berharap mendapatkan dana USD 25.000 untuk dapat segera menyelesaikan DreadOut agar dapat dirilis di bulan November ini. Kampanye crowdfunding semakin ditekankan setelah melepas demo di bulan Maret lalu yang terbukti sukses.

The second Music, Entrepreneurship, And Technology discussion gathering last Saturday featured a few interesting discussions, led by experts in their respective fields. Oon Arifiandi from 7Langit elaborated on developing mobile apps for music, and musician Arian Arifin explained the business potential of music merchandising. Abang Edwin SA, with his years of experience in digital communities, covered the do’s and dont’s of managing a community of fans, and Ricky Andrey shared something interesting: looking at bands as startups from a legal perspective.
