Skybee CEO Pontus Sonnerstedt on Guvera, Music Streaming, and Connecting with Former Yahoo Colleagues

Guvera may have been made available to Indonesian music fans but the service has yet to be officially launched. As we reported previously, the Australian company got together with Indonesian mobile and digital services company Skybee to expand its market to Indonesia and Skybee in turn signed up a number of local partners to bring Guvera to consumers.

Australian Music Streaming Service Guvera is Now Available in Indonesia

Guvera has quietly launched in Indonesia this past week. The Australian music streaming service was relaunched in Australia and the US on 16 October and apparently was made available in Indonesia as well. Unlike in Australia however, Guvera requires an almost immediate subscription service in Indonesia.

Ohdio Co-Founder and CEO Yoga Nandiwardhana is Off to XL Axiata

Ohdio co-founder and CEO Yoga Nandiwardhana is stepping down from his role at the music streaming startup to return to the telco industry although he will be remaining on board as product advisor. Filling the spot will be co-founder Ario S. Tamat who will take over as interim chief executive effective immediately. Nandiwardhana informed DailySocial of the changes via email today.

Spotify Said to Expand Further Across Southeast Asia by December

Spotify has been on an international expansion drive recently having added Argentina, Greece, Taiwan, and Turkey to its markets earlier this month. While it now has 32 countries on its table, the company is still looking to add a few more apparently before the calendar year is over. Ohdio FM Lets Listeners Create Playlists Based on Selected Artists

Indonesian online radio Ohdio.FM today announced an addition to its streaming channels in the form of artist selections. Ohdio now features a section called Radio Artis which allows listeners to automatically create playlists based on the band or the singer that they have selected. The new feature is being made available on the desktop first and will be making its way to the mobile interface in the coming weeks.

[Manic Monday] Music Discovery And Curation

Last Friday, I came (a bit late) to a discussion forum and get-together held by Seven Music, attended by people from many walks of life, among them artist management, bands that are just starting out, to bands who have signed on to Seven Music. I was introduced to a few of the attendees, among them a band called Tokyolite, who just finished their home recording EP, and were offering their CD for sale. It turns out that they have already had a chance to play on a TV show in Japan, after being discovered by the TV show’s producers through their YouTube videos. Tokyolite is naturally still at the start of their career, and if they are smart, they can take advantage of these opportunities to further their music careers.
