Vena Helps You Track Vaccinations for Your Baby

As a parent with a baby, I realized that apps like this is crucial to help parents tracks our baby’s health and vaccinations. Sometimes parents are so busy, they forgot to keep track on their baby’s vaccination schedules.

This app solves this very problem. This app aims to help parents anticipate this issue although unfortunately this app is only available on the Windows Phone platform – despite the fact that it’s not even officially marketed in Indonesia.

This app is called Vena, developed by Bandung-based RadyaLabs, the same company who developed Dailysocial App for Windows Phone. RadyaLabs currently has 6 engineers, in which all of them are ITB (Institute Teknologi Bandung) alum. Vena is published for Windows Phone and available globally for $1.99, and currently the only app on the platform with such concept.

Vena gives you information on customizable vaccination planning and scheduling, so for those who are clueless about these things can have a good start. It’s a fun app for me because it saves my time to plan my baby’s vaccination and try to keep it on track.

This app is compliant with Android 2.1 (Eclair) despite the information on the Android market saying the minimum requirement is 1.6. They also claimed to run smoothly on Froyo and Gingerbread-based tablets such as Samsung Galaxy Tab and HTC Flyer. Facebook today finally announced the release of its long-awaited iPad app. In a blog post by software engineer Leon Dubinsky, Facebook’s announcement of the app came ahead of its actual availability on the App Store. The iPad app is available as a universal app, which means that the updated version of the iPhone app also includes the iPad version.

The iPad app was revealed by TechCrunch in July and apparently had been mostly completed back in May. For some reason the company had waited until today to release the app. In the meantime, Jeff Verkoeyen, the lead engineer for the project who had been working on it for eight months, left Facebook to join Google.

Foursquare to launch BlackBerry app with Indonesian localization on September 1

We just received an anonymous email letting us know that Foursquare has requested assistance from RIM to feature the latest version of the Foursquare app in the BlackBerry AppWorld. The reason for this request is apparently support for additional languages.

According to the email, the next Foursquare app update will have localization support for Thai, Indonesian, Russian, Portuguese and Korean languages. The app will be made available from September 1. No word as to the localizations for Foursquare’s apps on other platforms such as iOS and Android at this moment.

Read on for the email from Holger Luedorf, Foursquare’s VP mobile and partnerships

Waiting for Startup and Service in Music Segment to Continue Growing

In my opinion, the growth of music industry should be in line with the internet development. Both music and internet have been very close companies for a writer and music listener who always connected to the cyber world. So how to fulfill this two areas of enjoyment at once, especially using Indonesia’s local application and web-based service?

I see that music segment in the internet is still managed by telco – provider – label, focusing in music download and online music store (RBT – full track). On the other hand, there are also some media with music content, including the news of the musicians themselves. Some other segments are supplement for their printed version.

Other than those types may have the amount increased such as startups or another independent media. There are many media outside the mainstream that covers many sidestream music growths such as Musikator, YesNoWave, Deathrockstar, MusicBandung, GeekBible. YesNoWave has become an online music distributor or netlabel. Other examples of netlabel are Invasi Records, Reload Your Stereo, Stone Well Sound Records, Inmyroom Records, Hujan! Rekords, Mindblasting and StoneAgeRecords. This means there are enough recources for music content.

Your Stereo, Stone Well Sound Records, Inmyroom Records, Hujan!
