Blibli celebrates first anniversary, to focus on revenue in the next year

With $10 million to start with, e-commerce giant Blibli celebrate their first anniversary in Jakarta today. Their first year, BlibliĀ recorded 5 million visitors to their website averaging 15 thousand visitors each day, growing from 3 thousands daily visitors when they first launched the service.

Indonesia Left Out of the Asian iTunes Store Launch Party

Apple has announced an expansion of its iTunes Store into Asia by adding a dozen countries across the region. The countries are Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Missing from the list? Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian country (Well, Myanmar can’t count due to the various embargoes) not on the list [East Timor isn’t either -Ed]. Other than Indonesia, South Korea isn’t on the list as well [even though it was back in March -Ed].

What does this expansion of iTunes Store mean? With credit cards issued within those countries, consumers will be able to purchase more than 20 million songs available from iTunes Store including Asian idols such as Jay Chou, Girls Generation, and Andy Lau. Songs from iTunes Store are available as 256Kbps AAC with no DRM. Consumers will also be able to buy or rent various movies in high definition, thanks to the cooperation with major film studios.

Inapay Launches InaKlik, Focusing to Acquire New Users

Inapay.com, a payment intermediary system with service system that is similar with joint account, recently launched a new feature to its members. This new feature is named InaKlik where the members can participate in promoting Inapay via the internet by placing a link provided by Inapay on the members’ blogs and websites.

You may be aware that Inapay is a startup that received investment from EastVenture in mid-January 2012. After the investment, many advances and changes happened in Inapay. Some of them are the change in the tagline on the logo, change of the concept of Gold Member and Silver Member, Inapay even handed out gadget prizes to its members. Seeing the huge market in Asia, they actually moved their headquarters to Indonesia and will be concentrating their e-commerce expansion in South East Asia.

Plasa Berencana Untuk Menjual Bisnis E-commerce Mereka ke eBay

Tampaknya eBay akan secara langsung masuk ke dunia e-commerce Indonesia dengan mangakuisisi bisnis e-commerce Plasa.com, menurut informasi yang kami dapatkan dari berbagai sumber, baik dari dalam maupun luar perusahaan.

E-commerce menjadi arah baru bagi Plasa di bawah mantan CEO Shinta Dhanurwardoyo, tetapi sekarang Shinta telah keluar dari Plasa dan online marketplace yang dimiliki Plasa secara praktis berjalan sendiri tanpa arahan, perusahaan ini disebut-sebut sedang berusaha memotong kerugian dengan menjualnya ke eBay. Kesepakatan ini belum final dan masih ada kemungkinan untuk tidak terjadi. Saat ini kedua perusahaan masih memperdebatkan detail dari kesepatakan ini.

Plasa.com mengalami masa sulit setelah ditinggal CEO sebelumnya, Shinta Dhanurwadoyo dan Chief Innovation Officer mereka Andi S. Boediman. Plasa merekrut Iriana Muadz dari Heinz ABC pada bulan Maret 2011 sebelum akhirnya juga meninggalkan perusahaan bulan kemarin. Sementara ini, Aris Siswoko dari manajemen Telkom dikatakan mengelola perusahaan tersebut.

Plasa Looking to Sell Its Ecommerce Biz to eBay

It seems that eBay may jump directly into Indonesia’s ecommerce scene by acquiring Plasa.com‘s ecommerce business according to sources inside and outside of the companies.

Ecommerce may have been Plasa’s new direction under former CEO Shinta Dhanuwardoyo, but now that she’s gone and Plasa’s online marketplace is practically on autopilot, the company is said to be looking to cut its losses by selling it to eBay. This deal however is still not finalized and there’s a chance that it may not even happen. At the moment, both companies are still wrangling about the details of the deal.

Plasa.com has been having a rough time since the departure of former CEO Shinta Dhanuwardoyo and Chief Innovation Officer Andi S. Boediman. The company hired Iriana Muadz from Heinz ABC in March 2011 before she too left the company last month. In the meantime, Aris Siswoko from within Telkom’s management ranks is said to be running the company.

Tokopedia Adds UNIK As a Payment Method

Last week Tokopedia announced that it has adopted UNIK as an additional payment option that its customers can use to purchase goods from its online stores.

UNIK, short for Uang Elektronik (Electronic Money) is a payment system developed by a company called Transmaya. it covers online purchases, utility bills, and phone credit top ups and the company is also working to add fund transfers to its service. To use UNIK, buyers will have to register as a member and deposit funds before they can take advantage of the facilities.

Tokopedia explains on its website that the benefit for customers by using UNIK is the instant verification of payments which allows a speedier transaction between merchants and buyers. For merchants, the benefit is the addition of UNIK users as potential customers.

Multiply Relokasi Kantor Pusat dari Boca Raton, Florida, ke Jakarta

Sebelum pembukaan acara Multiply Online Seller Convention di Jakarta pada hari Sabtu, 28 Januari, Peter Pezaris, CEO Multiply mengumumkan bahwa perusahaanya akan memindahkan kantor pusat mereka dari Boca Raton, Florida, ke Jakarta.

Multiply telah memiliki lebih dari 50 karyawan di Jakarta dari total 126 karyawan global. Atas pertumbuhan yang signifikan di Indonesia dan Filipina, Multiply melihatnya sebagai alasan yang sangat tepat jika kantor pusat di pindahkan ke Asia Tenggara.

Selain itu, Multiply juga mengumumkan perpanjangan program bebas biaya kirim dan transaksi yang sebelumnya akan berakhir pada akhir bulan ini ke akhir bulan Maret 2012. Dengan kata lain, konsumen Multiply bisa menikmati layanan bebas biaya kirim, dan para penjual tidak akan dikenakan biaya atas transaksi menggunakan Multiply Commerce sampai dengan tanggal 31 Maret 2012.

Multiply juga mengumumkan bahwa konsumen Multiply di Indonesia telah dapat melakukan pembayaran dengan menggunakan XL Tunai, yang merupakan hasil kerja sama dengan operator XL Axiata, selain itu pembayaran juga kini bisa dilakukan melalui jaringan ATM Prima di seluruh Indonesia.
