Earlier this month, our sister blog, Trenologi, reported some stats regarding crowdfunding site Kickstarter. This post has brought me to finding that the year 2012 has been dubbed as the year for crowdfunding by no other than Forbes itself. Collectively, the crowdfunding industry in the USA has made US $1.5 billion in 2011 and was predicted to finish 2012 generating $2.8 billion according to report by research firm Massolution. This leads me to ask, how is the state of crowdfunding industry here in Indonesia?

Revisiting SMS as a Consumer Engagement Tool

We previously reported that SMS usage has been in a steady decline in Indonesia. As Aulia noted, from June to September 2012 alone, SMS usage has dropped 38%. According to the Indonesian association of telecommunication interconnection clearing (Askitel), the number of SMS sent across all Indonesian mobile carries massively declined from 28 billion in June to 18.5 billion in September. This is much attributed to, as Rama also wrote, the rise of over the top (OTT) services like Skype, WhatsApp, Line, Kakao Talk, BBM or iMessage. With such statistics backing the fall of SMS, how can I ask you, the readers, to revisit SMS as an engagement marketing tools?

Pengembang Software Jepang dan Korea Mulai Mendominasi App Store dan Google Play

Pengembang aplikasi asal Jepang dan Korea menginvasi daftar pengembang dengan angka pendapatan bulanan terbesar di iTunes Store dan Google Play Store. Menurut laporan yang baru-baru ini dirilis oleh App Annie, sebuah perusahaan analisis pasar aplikasi mobile, pengembang-pengembang asal Jepang seperti Applibot (di urutan ke-6), Square Enix (di urutan ke-7), GungHo Online (di urutan ke-8), dan Gree (di urutan ke-10) masuk dalam daftar 10 pengembang dengan pendapatan bulanan tertinggi di iTunes Store pada Oktober lalu.

IDC: Teknologi Akan Mendorong Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Indonesia

Berdasarkan laporan terbaru yang dirilis oleh International Data Corporation (IDC), Indonesia diprediksi akan mengalami pertumbuhan ekonomi yang dipicu oleh berkembangnya sektor teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK). Indonesia mencatatkan pertumbuhan investasi asing langsung sebesar 22% pada kuartal ketiga 2012. Sementara, pembelajaan di bidang TIK diprediksikan akan mencapai angka 15 miliar dollar Amerika di akhir tahun ini.
